Your issue may be something else. Its hard to say over the internet.

If your carb isn’t dumping raw fuel down the venturi, then I would probably look at other stuff.

Most MTB frame sizes are s-m-l-xl now days. The important part is the top tube length. The reach from the seat to the handle bars. You probably need something in the 24″ area. I’m 6’4″ and ride a large. Even though I should fit and XL, I feel better on the smaller bike.

That panther looks sweet. But those old cruisers have terrible geometry compared to new MTB rigs.

If you want to build a retro looking fat bike. I suggest buying a used bike and cutting it up. Fabricate a new top tube to make it look different. Something like that…

Be on the look-out for a chromoly/steel fat bike. I couldn’t find much on our local craigslist. But I’ll keep my eye open.

This one is a good deal considering that it has the suspension fork.

    Here is a steel one.

This one is spec’d-out nice. All the good stuff.

    Nice Ben.

State champs went well yesterday. We kind of screwed ourselves on bonus points. Some guys made sure they had all they could. For the results and number of races we did I’d say our stats are better.

Peet got 1st in the race and 2nd overall

Jonah got 1st in the race and 2nd overall. Missed overall 1st by one point.

I got 3rd in the race and 3rd overall.

My kid Holden got 5th in the race and 5th overall

We all got state number plates. Thats cool, and will look good for next year.

After you run the engine for a minute, turn it off.  Then look down the carb to see if it is dripping gas? That would indicate a float, valve, or fuel pressure issue.

Sorry for not responding sooner. Are you sure the problem is the carb? The biggest problem I see with old carbs is worn-out throttle shaft/bore. After years of use the bore becomes oval shape, and allow the engine to suck air through the gap. It doesn’t take much to cause a problem. I assume your car is still 6 volt? Which means that you have to repair an original carb rather than buying a new replacement. There is a guy on samba who offers a bushing repair/replacement service.

I see you left your baywindow here.

Let me guess….it needs a tune up? haha Oil change too? Head torque? Valve adjust?

You know its probably going to run exactly the same after I do all that work.

I installed some empi 36 dellorto repops on Mike’s 68. Runs great. I’m stoked on them. Dells work better in a beetle because the idle jets are easily access accessible from the top. No weber windows needed. 😉

Thanks Halls! We had a good time Saturday night. Justin can fly the shit out of some airplanes.

Sorry to hear about your tow mirror. Vegas sucks.

Enjoy your beetle, it should provide miles of smiles. Hit me up if you have any questions.
