binz conversion?
I vote yes.ย ๐
Is that a three wheeled dolly? ๐ย ๐ย ๐ย ย everyone flips their bus over these days…..ย I been flipping busses for 17 years.. ๐ย ๐ย ๐ย ๐
I dunno why Jeff bought that POS truck.. he has a BEAUTIFUL SWR red one he has hidden under the deck.. ๐ย ๐ย ๐ย ๐ย ๐ย ๐
Your kicking ass Jeff!!!ย Like usual I guess.. ๐ย ๐

Dunno why I bought the 60 single either… softie for a transporter in need I guess. That Binz conversion idea is a bad one, too many parts to fab that KF don’t make, Binz’s are kinda ugly I think, compared to a factory dc, and from what I’ve seen those trucks are a freaking hack from the factory. I was thinking custom camper on the back, but it’s waay on the back burner, this thread is about ddwt’s ๐
I finished stripping the cadaver to the bone and stuck it on the rack, 4 wheeled dolly that works better on 3. There are welds that need to be finished that I could not get to any other way, and a big hole under the driver’s seat pedestal that couldn’t get fixed without the beam coming out. The suspension and trans need a good cleaning and there is lots of bare metal down there now that needs protection. Didn’t want to do it but knew it had to be done. I just added 6 months of time to this project.
ย Drive train looks pretty good for 59 years old. Looks like og shocks on the rear, coil overs on the front ๐ย to compensate for the torsion bar sticking out, I don’t think this rig saw too many miles.
I think it was a smart idea to buy it. Binz would be sick. The camper idea is cool find a old aluminum camper and modify to fit that would be sweet. U seen one at BBB last year it was slammed and it was bad to the bone ghetto ride. CmonBBB
Kickin that DD ass. Nice work we need to get all 3 DD together and have a campout
Got the last of the removables off the cadaver, E brake handle, shift rod, rear hatch – all the fun stuff ๐ย Got to the hole under the seat pedestal, if transporters have a hell hole like a 914, this is it. Spent most of 2 days in this little spot, found more rust above my bulkhead repairs when I could see behind,ย but it’s solid now.
Holy shit ! Lots of work.. Way to go man !
Looking good. 58 walkthroughs are the coolest!
Getting it done… Jeff…ย Your an inspirational motivator… Bubba has been telling me this about you for years…ย But I think this is your forst project i have had the privilege to follow… ๐ย ๐ย ๐

Awesome Jeff!!!! ย Damn, you REALLY get after it!!!!! ๐ย ๐ย ๐ย ๐ย ๐
Still moving forward. Lots of little odds and ends. I stripped my roof with aย pneumatic polisher and a 6″ stripit disc. I can see the metal now and feel it, started beating out the big hammer wallops and things are beginning to go back in place ๐ฎย . With the new floors, pillars and inner structure the carcass is solid again, rings like a drum when you bang on it or flip it back rusty side up ๐ย not like the wet noodle I started with.
I had to fab a piece of engine seal lip. First I picked up a piece of green metal scrap and bent it around a steel rod about the size of a front torsion bar. The green was hard to bend and didn’t look right so I picked up a scrap of black stuff – the cheap Danish panel material, bent like butter!ย The Colombian metal is thicker and stronger than the euro stuff ๐
I need a spare tire mount. Franz can you hook me up? I’ve seen you make 2 of ’em now.
Making some crazy progress. ย It is inspirational.
thats one big messed up roof.. ๐
