I stayed late last night and finished welding all of the tube/patches. Stoked to be at this point. We can start thinking about mounting batteries. I have some ideas, I’ll elaborate later.
Next on the list is to finish the IRS control arm drop plate mods. I’ll be able to use the frame table to get them perfect.

in reply to: VWs At The Springs 2022 #67406Pat been dialing in his/Riley’s 68. Pending sunroof operation perfection; she is ready to head out tomorrow.
in reply to: Dans ‘65 Tesla #67405Thanks Scott, we already have 930 conversion flanges installed. Should be able to buy the correct length sway-a-way or Empi axles when ready.
More welding, something like 60 joints total, I’ve fully welded 50 of them. Then disassembled the spring plates/bushing to prep for welding on the front tubes.

in reply to: WTF Cory!!!! #67367Yes Pat! Outstanding phototgraphs!
Nice parts.
in reply to: Dans ‘65 Tesla #67295I re-did the rear tube connectors. So that they have better support. Green light for welding… First round this evening.
in reply to: Dans ‘65 Tesla #67231Yeah we’ll have to get some sticky tires. Probably not drag slicks though.
Thanks for the kind words. I am looking forward to final welding all the joints.
in reply to: Fucking Bubba!!!! #67228Clean and clear coat.
in reply to: Dans ‘65 Tesla #67192I think that’s all the tube. The rear piece comes apart and lets the drive unit out from under the car.
in reply to: Dans ‘65 Tesla #67181Yeah, but what color?
More fishmouths for the connector pieces, and a diagonal brace x2. I mocked-up the axle/cv joint to check clearance.
in reply to: Dans ‘65 Tesla #67111Finished the side mount plate work, then bent and fit some 1” x .120” tube around the sides of the drive unit. I’ll drop some connectors on the corners of these tubes to make them sturdy.
