That trim on the quarter cards is sweet!
^^^ I agree! Great call Tom!
Anti-rattle bumpers and felts installed.
Save all of the packaging. Plastic bags opened up work great for vapor barriers.
Thought we had a new Ivory passenger side armrest in the stash. Turned out to be a left side.
Used an OG one for mock up. New one on the parts list.
OG handles and escutcheons. First sit cleaned up nicely.
Drivers door complete. Passenger side will have to wait for an new arm rest.
Sunroof is next on the list.
We will build it if it comes.
Worst set of sunroof rails I’ve had the pleasure of fixing up.
Three rounds of sanding, followed by scotch bright to get them back to good.
Sunroof cable guides were all pissed off. Had to dip them in the parts washer to get the old cables to release.
Stretched vinyl over the headliner cover panel.
All of the bits and pieces are ready to go for sunroof assembly.
We will build it if it comes.
Totally Blown Away!!! The attention to detail assembling the doors with anti-rattle like they were when new….it’s almost a shame to cover them up with the vapor barriers (very cool reuse of the bags btw) and the door panels! Those stock deluxe panels with the trim really make it! Blue square weave looks right at home in the package tray area…..This is definitely going to be a stand out car wherever I take it…..really, really, outstanding Pat!
I went back and looked at the sad rig my buddy Mike dropped off and that JJ started to work…hoping it could be what it’s become, but never thinking it could be this SWEET! Thanks JJ and Franz too for all of your hard work to get us here!!!!
Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore!
Super stoked you’re super stoked Tom!!!
Today was all about your sunroof. All moving parts lubed with dry molly for super awesome slickness.
New cables slipped into the guides rails. Bit of foam pad on the bottom side of the rails like VW did it.
Sourced a couple parts from the KCW junkyard.
Front sunroof adjusters needed a good bit of love to get freed up.
All the bits back together. Sunroof works super awesome!!!
We will build it if it comes.
Great job Pat… those sunroofs look like a pain
Sunroofs and door windows are detail oriented for sure. KCW has all the details spot on for this rig!
I was doing door windows this week too- bet mine don’t work as good as yours, they lack some of the details and my paint sucks! And It’s not my first pony ride by a long shot.
Folks, take your shit to KCVW!
hahah, that was a typo, but I like it 🙂
Fuchin awesomeness!!!!!!! Pat is knocking this project out of the park! Gonna be about done by the time I get home 🤫😎😎😎😎😎😁😁
Never make someone a priority, that makes You and Option. 🤔🤔🤔🥲
I sourced some original lower cylinder tin because they fit the best. A few of the mounting tabs needed repaired.
And fit the stainless A1 Performance sidewinder to original heater boxes with the aluminum elements inside. The heater should work fantastic in this car.
Since we’re doing vintage look, I whipped up a 6 volt generator backing plate modified for 12v. The pressing has more style than the flat smooth later style
Motor is about mocked up!!! Woohoo!!
love them details! And I know Tom is too!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

YES! Love it!! The backing plate adds character for sure!!! Like all the details….fun to watch who notices….
Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore!
“Any glass that moves sucks!“ JJ. Applies to sunroofs as well.
Finished all the sunroof bits. Visors and clips in. Everything related to the headliner is done! WOO!!
Starting on the dash bits.
We will build it if it comes.
Great detail on the backing plate Franz
Pat, you are killing the assembly on this bug
Double barrel draft tube with the valve cover vent tube, and deleted air filter outlet.
I like the new Empi beater tube because it’s not full of oil, and its the 40hp style.
Sand blasted tin, ready to paint.Moved this along some yesterday. WW has it all. Door mech oil hole plugs.
Fresh pop-out knobs to replace the cracked OGs.
New 12V wiper motor from Century Dist.
Need to add a headlight switch to the parts list.
Door dome light switches in and wired.
Several dash bits installed along the way.
We will build it if it comes.
