New project here. Tom has been waiting for a very long time… I am glad we are finally getting it in.
I think we are pretty much building a stock shell, with a call look pan, bigger motor, dual carbs, some cool wheels… probably some disc brakes…
I wonder how long Tom has owned this one? First Beetle? probably not…
I’m gonna get it unloaded.. wash it down a tad… keep the damn dirt out of my eye;s under it… 😎 Wrap my head around what needs to happen..
beetle builds seem to go super fast for you guys
i love a good bug build
Awesome JJ! Pulled this one out of Death Valley, right next to the Dwarf Car Museum after watching it on Samba for like 2 yrs!!! Title said it was a Montana car before making it’s way to Arizona. Kinda explains the rust n dust! I’ve owned it about a year. After some serious massaging by you guys, it will make it’s home just north of Tampa, FL. You are right on with where we’re going, stock Sea Blue shell, California look stance on some BRMs (if I can find the limited edition chrome w/ Flat black), Ivory interior, hopefully a freeway Flyer with a nice 1915 dual Weber engine. Not my first Bug, but will probably be the best one!
Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore!
That was fast! Tom got right on here… 😎
I got your body unbolted yesterday, doors off, last fender,hood.. gonna pull out glass and and such and get it off the pan and on a dolly… 😎
She has some bumps and bruises… pretty much looks like the right side of the car took all the punishment.
I know we need a right side heater channel and pan half… I’ll be surprised if we don’t need both sides😎😎😎😎😎
How about that fuse block👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Yeah, I could see from the photos when I bought it the right side had the rust n scrapes….Guess they took it out a few times in a Montana winter….
What the heck is that on the fuse block?……Musta liked dielectric grease and of course the desert sand mixed in…Hey at least it still had the original clips holding the fuse block in….lol!
I’ll share some shots of my friend Mike’s trip from Arizona when picking the car up (a great friend to go and get this thing out of Death Valley)
Somewhere near Gila Bend….then on to Utah…
Gump Point!

love these pics and totally recognize those views!!!!!!!!!!
I love going on adventures in our bus!!!
She’s ready for the dolly… Dolly should be available very very soon…. 😎 😎 There’s an oval window on it now… 😎
I want to decide what metal I am gonna order and get it ordered!!! 😎 I can be abrasive cleaning while it’s being shipped…
If I am changing one side of your pan, I am gonna do both sides for sure… Just for good measure… I kinda feel that way about your heater channels too… If one side is gone.. the other sides not far behind… 😎 we for sure need aprons…
I agree, wanna do this thing right…no problem doing both sides pans & heater channels…just makes sense…..
Anything we do let’s get the best we can…..which I know you guys already do…. 🙂

Off the pan onto the dolly.
We will build it if it comes.
woop woop!!! I think we should brace them door jambs and hack out some heater channels.. 😎
Funky Green heater channels on the way… He doesn’t sell later than 57 pans… so I will get them from Wolfsburgwest.
Monday, I am bracing up a body and cutting out heater channels… 😎
Hey I got a couple just like that 🙂 🙂
I didn’t see a decklid in the parts, an orig paint sea blue 1 year only 66 would be nice…
I got a pair if you need one 🙂
