I got the old turd fired up this weekend and was a bit sheepish to find leaky fuel lines in the engine bay and a leaky vacuum hose on the fuel psi solenoid thingy. The previous owner said he just replaced all the fuel lines but I should have known. The hose was cheap and probably another ethanol victim. Maybe sitting for two years helped exasperate the problem or maybe I was just too retarded to spot the leak before under the alternator where the hose gets nice and cooked. I replaced the lines with expensive ass Gates 30r14, the high psi shit. Now to do some test driving (with a new fire ext. under the seat) and hopefully the old ‘James Brown’ shitbox will be up for a road trip or ten or twenty.

One less SxS. I love it. I have always wanted to shred the dunes. I grew up watching all the Crusty dirtbike videos but I ended up at the race tracks and I have not ever gotten to spoon on a paddle tire to my dirtbike and launch it. One of these days I will make it out for a fun weekend of nothing but carving and sending some big booters.  I have raced off road races at Sand Hollow and Pismo Beach with knobby tires per the rules. All the SxS are like cockroaches. A VW sand rail is pure old school badass! A concoction of homebrew hot rod righteousness. Hero shit JJ!

Novella Rose Newbold is 10 weeks old now and she survived her first road trip up to Hayden for thanksgiving with my folks so I think she should do her first camp trip next and what better place than BBB. Mom says she will take off work so all I need to do is get the 87 Vanagon back to health. The shitbox was sputtering, stalling, and getting hot last we used it. I hate fuel injection so it has been parked for two years now… wish me luck!

You guys are looking good! Reminds me of making some “Bare Tire Class” ice racing tires once. Ya they have a “Bare Tire Class”, no studs, spikes or screws and yeah, I only made them once; I spent 9 hrs a tire cutting grooving and shredding!! Ahhh, but there is nothing like the smell of burning rubber… yumm.
