I canโt believe you guys were in my back yard!!!! You guys probably road-tripped I-80 across and then shot northward. Probably passed my house within 2 miles or so. I unfortunately was in Canada at the timeโฆโฆbut if you boys head back next year. I got beer and steak dinner ready for the whole crew and all Class 11 folks in Madison.
I thought about you most the road trip… and everytime I saw a madison sign.. but since you haven’t posted in like 2 years…. I didn’t hit you up…. ๐ ๐ ๐

Trip was EPIC!!!!ย ย To be part of the first annual of something is always awesome.. ๐ ๐ ๐
TIRES!!!!
Luck is when preparation and opportunity meet.๐
Crandon looked fun. Iโd like to be in the KCW caravan next year.
I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.
Yeah, that looked like some epic fun. I bet the road tripping with everybody was as much fun as the racing!
First annual class11 at CrandonโฆWhat an experience!!! So much going on it makes you dizzy walking around to see it all! ย Cool shit everywhere! Awesome people!
We will build it if it comes.

I was actually thinking next year that I can help out by delivering some gear needed locally.ย ย ย I have access to shit that may be easier to throw in a trailer and drive a couple hours rather than trailer from Colorado.ย ย Generators, welder, tools, air compressors, barbeque grills, barrels of beer, UTV, golf cart etc……easy.ย Hit me up.ย ย I may not post much….but I am still around.

That’s some awesome onsite support right there.

Wisconsin!!!ย ๐ย More awesome truck stop nights in the bus!!!!ย ย I think I could be a truck driver!!!
Luck is when preparation and opportunity meet.๐
Crandon was an absolute BLAST!!! Iโve never had so much fun on a trip! Amazing people, amazing opportunity, and an amazing experience.
WOW!!! What an insanely awesome trip. One we will all never forget. It was SO. MUCH. FUN. So many pictures, I’ll have to make a couple posts…
Boy did “The Big House” deliver. EPIC. I hope I can get some pictures and videos up that will help paint the picture for you all, but really I think you had to be there taking in all the racing energy and excitement from the hundreds of racers and 65,000 fans in the tiny 2,000 person midwest town of Crandon. The first night I went out to the bars with some of the other Class 11 guys and Mr. Lucas Oil – as the bartender introduced us – bought us all our first round of drinks which was pretty cool!
Thursday Morning Continental Tire took all the Class 11 Racers and teams out to breakfast at a little place called The Log Cabin. It was SUPER cool how connected all the Class 11 teams were for this race, and also very cool how Empi, Continental, and Crandon was helping wine and dine the class a bit..
Tech was the most intense we have ever been through. They were laughing at us when we said that, but at MORE If you feel safe enough to put your life at risk in the car you built than you can go for it ๐ No other safety said our helmets weren’t allowed until Crandon, and THANK GOD they let us race with them “this one time” or that would have been a $$$ investment to make at the track ๐ As it was we had to go buy racing shoes, socks, and gloves which cost a pretty penny… only for other Class 11 guys to come and protest it all and them decide we didn’t have to all go buy the fire proof socks and shoes when all the races in the west don’t require it… haha that was the theme of the weekend… they didn’t really know what to do with us, but we all just rolled with it! Cause when’s the last time Class 11 came to Crandon? Oh yeah, NEVER.
We made it through tech finally – some of the class 11s never even went to tech it turned out ๐ – and we were ready for practice!!! Practice on Thursday was a BLAST. The track and the dirt was PERFECT. The car ran great, the tires did great, and lets not forget this was JJ and I’s very first time back in the car since it blew up in Glen Helen!! We had so much fun we were smiling fools the rest of the night ๐
Friday was the Lucas Oil Labor Day Parade!! Whoa – that was TONS of fun!!! Maybe some of the most fun of the weekend!!! That was when all the spectators started showing up, all the race cars from the track were escorted to town, ย and the town went WILD. We made sure to line up all the Class 11 cars together to go to the parade, and Greta even got to come too! As you can imagine the smiles on peoples faces were endless ๐
They had us all park on the Main Street in town for a little show and booths, before we all cruised back to the track for the parade together. Of course the Class 11’s had to make it a real show by riding on top of our cars and in our open windows! Kids were lined up wanting stickers and candy! We will be MUCH more prepared next year!! ๐
There were a few photographers who were super excited to see the Class 11s out there, so we got a lot of cool pictures!
The Lack of organization at the race was CRAZY. No one knew what track we were racing, how many laps, if we should do cautions…So to determine the line up for Friday Night’s race I found some paper in Greta, cut up 17 equal pieces and had each racer come to me so I could write their car number on the paper and hand it to them. They all put their piece in a hat, and someone picked the first drunk dude to walk by…the man whose hat said “eat pussy, drink whiskey” was chosen and he called out the names. Here was the list… you all know I didn’t rig it! ๐ Then I rode the dirt bike to the officials who just trusted me right away to make all the calls ๐
That race, as you all already know, was a little disappointing… We got a flat tire on our first lap around the track, which SUCKED. JJ did not want to run two ply tires and guess what we ran ๐ ย At least we had fun, and our car was still running great for Sunday. Night races sorta suck if you don’t have awesome lights too… we probably need to get some Baja designs lights or something so we aren’t just blinded by everyone else ๐คช Pretty wild race though! One car rolled, and two cars lost their engines! Ouch!! Also Noah won the race!! He is a younger racer, totally an underdog, and a lot of people helped him get his car together for this race!! VERY cool!!!
Ok, so so far we have helmets, lights, and tires that we need to invest in before any more racing… ๐คช
Saturday was our day off from racing. We got to hang out and watch all the other races, and since our car was not broken, we really got to relax. The guy running the race, Marty, specifically asked for JJ’s Oval to be at the Empi Booth on Saturday, so we took it over there for the afternoon too. It was pretty cool how excited everyone was to see us, and how shocked they were after watching Friday that we can actually move and we actually race!! I think they thought we would be putting around the track afraid to hit each other ๐ obviously they don’t know Class 11 guys ๐
Heading to the Empi Booth, and getting more info for the Race! Some called me the “Class 11 Director” this weekend ๐ I take full pride in such a title!! ๐
We also got “ducked ” by Marco the Class 11 Continental Tire rep!
Sunday at CRANDON!!! The WORLD CUP!! The off-road WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! The final event of one epic long weekend – CRANDON!!! Here JJ and I are, ready to ROCK!
On Saturday we got a little talking to from the Ultra 4 guy, who we were technically racing under at Crandon. Apparently in the night race, people were not following local cautions, nor were people’s radios set up to listen to the main track, nor did everyone have a spotter on the stand like they were supposed to listening to the main track… ๐ we were told to look for flags, and that we should all go to weatherman to listen to the track, and we also all discussed and decided to run the long track on Sunday, with a caution/re-group in the middle. Ok, plan!
Come Sunday we are sitting in our cars at the starting line, engines running, adrenaline pumping, and a guy comes up and yells to each of the racers, “10 LAPS ON THE SHORT COURSE, NO CAUTION” haha ok… well at least we practiced that twice already… sounds good ๐๐ป Meanwhile Pat is telling me on the radio 9 laps, no caution ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ and I’m telling him what I just heard, then the guy gets in front of all of us and waves 9 fingers in the air, then crosses his hands through the air as if to say ‘no’, then waves 10 fingers in the air. Then repeats it. umm… so I guess that means 9 laps, not 10? ๐ Ok… here we go… CRANDON!!!!
We had SO. MUCH. FUN. ripping around that track. The car ran GREAT. It jumped GREAT. And JJ got a SWEET start too! We were in third place in the first turn, and stayed in 4th and 5th place for awhile!! Our only issue was lack of traction, and bumping into people slowing us down. The track was SO MUDDY and our tires were not grooved enough… Scott 1150 slid out on some mud and slowed us down big time first, and then we slid out in the exact same spot a lap later and spun all the way around… Dennis 1163 rolled his car for the first time in his off-road racing career, and Tim 1103 spun and Ryan 1191 t-boned him… It was a wild race for SURE! ย I think it would have also helped everyone if they had done a re-group… the track got a lot better as we went, but they were afraid to re-group us because still in the Sunday race people were ignoring cautions, a little annoying, but it is what it is…Weย all had a great time!! The start is important man!! If you can get in the front then you don’t have to get beat up by the big group around you and you are home free!
Cisco took 1st, then Donny got 2nd and Noah got 3rd!! Pretty sweet that a couple newbies podiumed!!! Here’s the Continental Tire Trophy – she’s pretty!!
Post Race mud and carnage… DAMN look at Ryan’s car ๐ณ
Sunday Night the Cars were all loaded up to leave, so we could party it up for our last night in Crandon and at Jurassic Park as they call it – the camping area of Crandon ๐ it is a HUGE property guys!! Pretty cool….
Ryan, Chip, and Dennis + Crandon and Continental Tire helped get our car and 12 others to and from Crandon! That was pretty awesome, and sure did help a lot of us get there!! I heard they had a pretty awesome time road tripping with that epic hauler too! I can only imagine!!
By Wednesday Afternoon we had all made it back to KCW safe and sound, and with no issues along the way!!! FUCK YEAH!!! Chip was kind enough to grill some carne asada and make us some of his home made & ย famous “Black Gold” salsa! YUMMMM!! We had a little post-race party with delicious food, good company, and race videos to watch too! Perfect way to end an epic trip!!!
Thanks for sticking with me if you read my whole Crandon story – I thought there may be some of you who wanted a little Audrey taste of the weekend ๐ If not, I hope you liked the pictures!! โบ๏ธ What an unforgettable road-trip + racing weekend!!!
Sounds like you guys had a great time! Wish we had something like that here.
