Picked up a 1/3 scale J5 Piper Cub last week. Needs quite a bit of fixing. But scored it at a cheap price. Guy built a nice box to transport it in. Going to use the wood for other airplane building projects.

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

I’ll have to call Ronnie and see if I can fly from the beach during BBB. Also, next month, there is the annual Lake Havasu Float Fly. I’ll have to check the exact date, but thinks it’s the Second weekend, right before Thanksgiving.

me too!! My late father and I had a blast racing R/C in the 80’s together. Ran a stock RC10, modified RC10 w/ MIP gearbox graphite chassis Trinity motors…, and old school ‘Dogfighter’ yokomo with all the Delta goodies.

About a month ago, a R/C club member gave me a crashed Piper Cub. I deemed it repairable, and as I needed to rebuild most of the cockpit, I decided to modified it to the military L4 version. This version has lots of windows so the pilot could see 360, and above easily. The L4 was used by US and allies alike as spotter platforms, liaison, and currier type missions. One pilot even mounted bazookas to the wing struts and had two German tank kills. Anyway, here are some progress pictures. Most were done up in OD Green with invasion stripes, but I decide to go with a National Guard silver scheme.

Starting the cabin mods.

All of the structure repair, and mods added.

Fuselage covered.

Aluminum panels and rivet detail on forward fuselage.

Top of cabin complete.

This is close to what I’m going for.
