in reply to: Motorcycle racket #64199I like to party.
in reply to: Motorcycle racket #64134Well shit, yeah, the guy getting the flattrack together raised a bunch of money, got a bunch of equipment donated to him including a nice fully equipped ambulance and then split. He deleted his social media accounts and changed his phone number. Major bummer. I talked to the lady who runs the drag strip and said she would still help me get the tack going again but the ambulance, work truck and other equipment disappeared. Building a wall around the track to keep dirt from blowing onto the drag strip was her main concern. I guess the guy from the county who has handled the leasing of the land to the track for the past 20 years just retired also making the endeavor of rebuilding the flattrack there less of a sure thing. As much as I want a local flattrack scene I can’t see myself investing the time and work to do it unless I had a secure piece of land to do it on. Maybe out at the Run It Racing compound you guys had the local baja race but I have not talked directly to Andy about it yet…
I spent the last few weeks getting my 1988 XR600 dialed in for the Biltwell 100 this weekend. I made some new shim stacks and drilled out for fork piston valves and have the old big red pig gobbling up whoops as good as any light weight modern bike I have ridden. My goal was to not just win the 1980’s class that starts on row 10 but to beat as many of the modern class experts starting up front hoping for the overall win. However I decided tonight that I am not going. My buddy who talked me into signing up for this race bailed on me two days ago and I calculated fuel cost to get my van there and back to be $600. I loose my entry fee and the chance to get back to racing for the longest dry spell I have ever endured. Dad life. Racing is all I have ever done and I sure aint ready to slow down yet but daddy daycare is taxing both my time and my race funds.
Keeping on the sunny side; This one looks fun and Mom has time off from work so we are going to haul out our shitty old camper to kansas and go racing as a family this memorial day weekend. I am checking the website every couple of hours for entries to open up..

They are bringing this grand prix back form the dead. I love grand prix, get to bomb through town on brick streets, out through the fields and give the town folk something to cheer for.
And in the mean time don’t forget about my local camp and ride party May 1st weekend. Like last year there will be a ride out from my shop friday, through the desert out to a camp spot near colorado/utah state line. Mini bike track at camp, costumes are optional. Big ride saturday out to Thompson springs and back for those who want to get some miles in. Hell maybe even some chopper guys will show up and we can do a tarmac ride. Anarchy as always with anything I “organize”. Hopefully I dont knock myself out it the first couple hours like I did last year guiding the ride out from my shop. Less breakfast beers maybe.
Different camp spot this year but this map is just to confuse people anyway…
in reply to: RC Randomness #63199Those old back up and turn cars… My dog ate the cord that connected to the controller. Then my buddy had a real Traxxis buggy and I “accidentally” ran it over with my Huffy.
I had a day dream the other day of a track behind my shop and one behind KCW. Groomed to perfection, stadium lights, billboard transponder timing, nerd fights and all.
I miss it sometimes but I remember feeling more consumed with addiction than any drug, strip club, or form of racing I have ever experienced. It probably didn’t help that every time I hit the track I was Snoop/ George Jones level intoxicated and I thought breaking shit was equal to winning. Needless to say when I graduated to flying planes that did not last long but holy shit is it fun to scream KOMAKAZI as you dive bomb under an easy up canopy making people scatter like mass shooting victims. Yeah, I had to give up RC. But sometimes I day dream…
