My family has been in the blacksmith/steel fab business since 1910. My great grandfather was a blacksmith from Scotland and started a blacksmith shop here in Vancouver when he immagrated to Canada. To this day we still do some industrial blacksmithing. Bit of a lost art. Here's a little video from work. It's a shackle for the US Navy.

=D> Great vid Jeremy ! I love iron work although I'm not very good at it. Had a small shop set up at my old house before I moved to where I am now. Never got back to doing anything , but I swear sometimes on clear dark nights I can hear the forge and smell the hot iron and feel the impact of a strike in my arm.
Someone recently told me to "act my age" Screw them ! I'm having too much fun to act that old !

That was interesting. It's cool to see how things are built.

Those shackles take four hours in the forge to get that hot. Were doing a giant anchor pin rivet next week. Basically we have to mushroom a 6" pin into the shackle with a huge air hammer. Quite violent. I'll try and get some video of that. We also have a plate roll that can roll 1.5" thick by 10'-0" wide plate into a circle. 600 tonne brake press too.

Maybe this will get some people excited, it's an aftermarket super badass clutch for a Audi a8 or r8 or some Audi.
