I haven’t been sleeping ALL morning, just enjoy cuddling up in front of the fire every once in a while. ?

Apart from getting cozy I’m gonna finish welding in the new battery tray I got in last night and find something else to get sidetracked by. Last night I also worked the door bottoms some more, pulled the passenger door off to get started on it, and then stripped out all the silicone that was in all the body seams.

 

Someone was also nice enough in the past to thoroughly weld these plates on to the frame so they could raise the bumper and clear the high performance beetle exhaust, but I can’t afford parts like that so they had to go… Hopefully I’ll gain some weight savings without them. ??  ???

Pulled the door rubber too and it looks like this bus might have some racing history provenance because I found some holes drilled that keep the bus lightweight and probably add some serious performance on the track. Gonna fill them in though since this bus is going to be more prerunner style and won’t see as much track time as it used to. ???

Will has an overwhelming desire to have a nice shiney bus…   In my youth…. I was the same.. but at the point I am in life… I do not give a fuck about a shiney bus… I care about functionality more than anything.   Why make your bus more useless????

Chicks my age don’t like to go for rides in rusty VWs! So many of them are shallow and fake, so shiny busses win ??

I don’t think having nice paint will make me drive it any less. I’ve already put 5,500 miles on a shiny oval…

Been working the corner since yesterday afternoon, its probably the most beaten up spot of the body (hopefully) ??

Slowly but surely its getting there… I think I’m getting close now, just have to resist the urge to move on to something else and come back to it…

In other news John and Franz are suddenly all about things being “stock”??

Franz and I are all about being realistic… We know what makes your bus the most desirable, valuable and sellable, while all the while, making it a super awesome functional bus!

Will Keeps tearing his bus more and more apart…  BBB is probably out of the question for him now… I fear he’s gonna get himself in a corner and I’m gonna have to help him to get his shit out of my way!!! 😉  😉  😉

I’m all about functionality these days….   I don’t need to impress anyone, hopefully, ever again! 😉  😉  😉  But I’ve got my soul mate already…. 😉  😉  😉  😉

Yup! I think I’m getting the hang of all the dent pulling and metal shaping. I’ve been working a lot on filling holes and shaping the rear corners and got the passenger side all smoothed out and looking awesome ????????

The nose has been getting a lot of attention this morning too, trying to finish pulling it all out and then fill some holes around the headlight bucket and the emblem.

Used the roller die to make a patch that fit the contour of the nose and filled in the old holes from the spare tire mount.
