Got to meet Ripley the Syncro here in town the other day. Ripley is a well outfitted Westy, and is really well known on Instagram with like 15k followers of its adventures! Cool to see it. It has the cool Audi rims like the Bradburn’s Ultimate… I might need to start looking for some like that.

That one has a cool grill. You are a vanagon guy now. 😉

I’ve seen they have that up for sale. Did they say anything about why? Seems like they went through hell to get that tdi running how they wanted. New rig? No more living in a van?

Haha I don’t know if I’m a full blown “Vanagon Guy” yet, but these busses do seem to have their own very similar and also unique following and culture that surround them. I’m having fun learning about them and how people use theirs.

I’m not sure why the people who own the westy are selling it, maybe to switch to an LT or a Sprinter? That would be my guess.

I finally went out and took some detail photos at some of the features of a Jagdwagen model doka.

The first and most noticeable differentiation would be the exoskeleton/roll-bar. All installed at the factory.

The spot light on the front isn’t original, but definitely fits the look. I don’t think I’m going to keep it though. It doesn’t work and I think two smaller LED pods on either side of the brush guard would be more efficient and provide a lot more light.

Check out the fitment of the factory winch on the bumper too. There are some cool videos of this truck on YouTube winching out some fipped over Vanagons and stuff.

Another rare option on this bus is having 4 independent captains chairs instead of the bench in the rear. The rear 2 seats swivel, which I assume is so that you could spot targets or shoot out the windows ?

The locking jerry can holder and rear full size spare tire mount

Dash shot showing the 3 knobs! Front and rear locking diffs

The factory refrigerator is missing its plastic mount that holds it in place on the floor. I’m not sure where I’m gonna find one, but its not a big deal anyway. I don’t have any problems with it sliding around. If I end up using it a lot I may just upgrade to an ARB refrigerator that has more storage and is more efficient.

This one was optioned with an auxiliary heater that was removed when the updated TDI was swapped in.

    Swedish only headlight washers!

And finally the locking slide out gun rack. Super cool original Jagd accessory, but I don’t own any guns, so I’ll probably just use it for fly rods and gear storage!

And the J-codes; they’re what separate this Jagdwagen from other dokas and verify its authenticity.

Make sure that vanagon has A/C too. For some reason the ladies think you HAVE to have that with babies.

Ya right! I’m not letting some puddy get in my way! Its gonna be just me and impractical/unsafe 2 door cars for the foreseeable future.

Puddy will derail the best of intentions! Why do you think monks live on top of hills in monastery’s. 😎

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

Stick to your guns.  I said 30 before I would let one into my life. Made it to 27, pretty close.

We will build it if it comes.

That’s what I’m thinking Pat… ~30. My friends give me shit about my commitment to plans we make for later in the day… I think it’s gonna be a while before I make a commitment to something even longer…
