Arrrgh! Dammed mix and match VW parts. ](*,) ](*,) Ordered bearings for my rear axle carriers. Assumed because there were wide five drums installed, that they were '68-'70 carries. Wrong! Carriers are '71-'79, and have different outer bearings. Didn't find any of this out until everything is torn down clean and ready for new bearings. ](*,) Now I got to run around tomorrow and hope someone has the right bearings so I can get this rig back together.

The bearings I got for the afore mentioned '68-'70 style carriers are the same as the axle bearing in the RGB's from '64-'67. Anyone needs them, let me know. Paid $65.00 ea. I'd be willing to trade them for two good early chrome hubcaps(dented OK), and a 15" bus wheel.

Really? I sourced the entire rear torsion out of a '69 bus so it would still be wide 5. I had no idea someone swapped crap around

Yea. That's what I thought to Scott. Was able to get two outer bearings from Phoenix yesterday. All back together now.
Today I'm working on the ducting for my heat.

I want to report that my heat worked great this morning. As with ANY vehicle, it took half way to work to start putting out heat. With the heat coming through the defrost vents only, I could feel my hands, chest, and face warming.
I still need to wrap some more heat tube with insulation, but if I took off to Havasu today, it wouldn't be cold like last year. By the way Dan, if you read any of this. Take those heat exchangers off that engine you purchased and throw them into the scrap pile. Worthless pieces' of shit after market I picked up at a swap.

Had "cabin fever" real bad from the last two days of rain. Had to get out a do something today. So I took my bus up Redington Pass, East of Tucson this morning.

These were taken on the way back out at the top of the pass. Beautiful morning. Bus performed awesome. Water temp never got above 180 the whole way in(20 miles)while plugging along in 1st and 2nd gear. Plenty of ground clearance. I puckered up a few times, but never scraped a thing.

Where I stopped for some shooting. Brought along a .22 cal. plinker and used up a box of fifty rounds.

First target pic is about 16 rounds, 13 in target, at 25yards standing. Second is first six rounds, sitting at 30yards. Not to shabby for no shooting anything in about three years.

Decent shooting. Is that a Ruger Single Six ?
911 operator: What is your emergency ? Me: Some asshole just pulled out in front of me & totaled my car! 911: Are you injured? Me: No. 911: Is the other driver injured ? Me: Not yet....but you should probably send an ambulance.
