Aaron, the decklid opens with the church key. The same thing that opens the gas door. What you have in the decklid, that you stock the drive extension in, is all that is supposed to be there. Then there is a fancy chrome cover that goes over it.
Greg

If you can't run with the big dogs....

Stay on the porch.

Aaron,

those crack between the valve seats are a notorious problem. Take an intake and exhaust valve out and check for guide wear as specified in the Bentley repair manual. This will help to determine the life they've had. The closer to speck, the younger the heads. If they're near the high limit for wear, maybe consider some new heads. The cracks aren't usually enough of an issue to cause a dropped seat. Don't attempt to repair them, that will only exacerbate the issue.

There's a LOT of missing surface area on those P&C. On a Beetle, you might get away with it. Not on a heavy bus though. New P&C time #-o

Check the endplay, change the fuel pump, oil pump, generator tower gaskets as well as the oil cooler seals and rock it.

If you need any specs, or to borrow any measurement or engine tools let me know dude.

Looking good! keep at 'er buddy! You're still ahead of me in the Guinness race! Smile

Alex
Why buy when you can build?
I've spent hours on parts that you can buy for pennies.

So unemployment has put a temporary hold on spending money on the bus.
I messed around with a couple sets of wheels today .

These are the wheels I would like to run but it's going to be an issue to make them work in the front .. 14's FTW!

So after much deliberation (and unemployment causing a lack of cash flow) I have decided to pull this out of the closet . Not to mention that most of the busses being put together seem to have some horse power being put in . I wan't to keep up with the big dogs Smile

Killer! Should have some nice torque.

Remember, you know where to come for a beer and Weber help.

I was digging through the interior today , had some trim panels off. I am now officially the happiest broke unemployed guy on this forum.
I found the ignition KEY! (replete with a nifty keychain!)
