Friday night I was able to sneak the porta power down into the pass side a pillar and push up along the back edge of the hood opening.
Hard to see, but I dropped a piece of 1/4” plate down the black hole on top of the heater opening for support to push on.
Last night I burned in and dressed the welds on the majority of the front clip. Had to make a couple small relief cuts on the pass side where the metal had stretched when wrecked.
Pulled the body off the pan. Going to get it mounted to the body rotisserie now that all the body mounts are repaired.

Darn near back to stock form after some hammer/dolly work.
Started fitting the clip next.
Bolted the hood on. Drivers side looked pretty good right off, pass side not so much.
The area between the the black marks needed some special attention.
Looking better. Just about ready to start melting it together.

Worked out the majority of the damage in the pass front quarter last night.
Pretty good dent along the a pillar seam and a large portion of the lower along the fender bolt line.
Round one of stud pulling.
Takes lots of different hammers apparently.
Felling good about how it all worked out.
Working this area back into shape now before I can start fitting the front clip.
Need to make it look like the drivers side.

Pics from yesterday.
Started by cutting 3/4” ply to fit the front pan section to help spread the load out while pushing. Then pushed a bunch!
A couple of the areas had pressure creases. With some pressure and hammer/dolly work they popped right out.
The lower pressings were push down about a half an inch. I shaped up a chunk of plate and welded it to one of the attachments. More pushing and more hammer/dolly work and they came back into shape nicely.
Same tactics used to get the decent sized crease out of the pass fender well also.
Looked just a hair off still when I got started tonight.
One more good shove in the sweet spot and it’s done!!!

Finished the last two sections of the passenger side front body mount area last night. Heater channel end cap section has to be done first.
Fire wall section was last along with the little finish welding/ grinding details.
Pulled the motor off the pan. Bolted the body down. All of the mount holes lined right up!!!!
Back over to the dirty shop. We need to some port-a-power work along the front pass side fire wall/ fender well area.
Can you see where the pass. side lower dash/ trunk area is pushed down?

Finished the drivers side front body mount area yesterday.
Cut all the junk out around the passenger side front body mount area yesterday. Started piecing it back together this morning.
Section of the heater channel and fender well went back together first.
Small section of the inside of the heater channel.
Cut out and tapped holes in a new nut plate.
Bottom section of the heater channel. Bead rolled the pressing into it. Weld the nut plate and cage in place, burned it in and dressed welds.

Polar silver is a beautiful, 1 year only, original VW Beetle color. https://images.app.goo.gl/Y7rFyhF6w2CBKXgNA
Laid out, cut, and folded the new nut plate cages.
Small inner section of the driver side heater channel was the first piece to go back in.
Bottom section of the heater channel with the nut plate and new cage in place went in next.
Section of the heater channel end cap after that.
Last piece was the firewall section. Bit of welding on the bottom side and grinding before it’s finished up.

Finished up rust repairs on the donor front clip between yesterday and this morning.
Ended up with 4 small patches and one large one. Lots of hard to reach areas dressing welds on the insides repairs. Everything turned out great!!!
Did some measuring next, drew a couple of lines and removed most of the junk up front.
Both front body mounts at the bulk head need attention.
Started with the drivers side. Junk removed. Working on a new nut plate cage now.

Started working on the front clip yesterday. Thanks again for letting loose of it Bo, and thank you for hauling it over Bubba.
Look how shiny the paint was underneath the OG undercoating.
After blasting I started replacing the missing fender mount nuts.
Working on the rusty section underneath the horn mount now.
Dan are we keeping american bumpers on this or going euro?
Broken bolt in the drivers side bumper mount to address as well.
We will build it if it comes.
