Mounted with 4 weld nuts, and a clip on the inside. Also welded a 3/4″ tube to the elbow union for case breather.
I think that is it for major engine fabrication. I’m passing the torch to Peet. Ready for more install plumbing and wiring.
in reply to: Who needs a Sand Scorcher??!!!??? #8396Peet got some 4″ and 6″ empi wheels. Rear tires are 30″ x 10.5″ efx motohammer for UTV….but they only measure 28″ Maybe they balloon out to make the difference once mounted and aired? Right now they look too wide and short.
in reply to: Parkway projects #8393That guy is too busy balancing tractor parts. 😉
in reply to: Toms rhd Oval Vert #8390YeP. What did we talk about on the engine again?? TypeIV with a single progressive weber?
Pat painted a bunch of RHD and other parts with good paint.
in reply to: BrownCloud KCW baja race team #8387We had a serious talk about prepping for the race, And decided not to do the San Felipe race in April.
The new plan is to race the 50th anniversary Baja 500 in June. Its a loop race in Ensenada. I feel like we’ll be better prepared and have a better race by giving ourselves more time. Plus, it sounds better to say “we won the baja 500”. 😉
The race is on June 2nd, we’ll probably arrive a week early on the 27th or so to do pre-running notes and planning.
KB mentioned renting a house for the week.
in reply to: Parkway projects #8383Colorado is the new California.
in reply to: Pauls 60 Single cab #8381Painted. Urethane single stage jet black.
in reply to: Pauls 60 Single cab #8380Oh man. Yeah we did on the old site. What year?
in reply to: 66 deluxe megahatch #8378Doug finished the top. Heck yes!
The sunbrella canvas was tough to stretch all wrinkles out of…not a very soft or flexible material. Plygrip strips were nailed into the wood to pull the headliner opening to. Looks simple, and I like how the green is glowing from the inside out.
I got some spraypoly down last night. My parts look excellent. I spent the time sanding bondo so that I wouldn’t have to mess with the primer. A “quick” da job and I’m in the booth. About to paint! Feeling like a badass this morning. Getting through this blasted-bare metal bus resto. I did that!
Dumb Brazilian decklid that looks like 58 with 66-67 latch. It came on the bus, I reused it.
in reply to: SST 2018 JJ's Journey #8183Oh damn! That was a tempered windshield???? Lucky it didn’t blow-up in his face.
in reply to: Parkway projects #8182Hell yeah. Better with bumpers and tail lights.
in reply to: Ultimate Vanagon #8181Finished and fit.
in reply to: 66 deluxe megahatch #8179YEAHHHH! I’ve been working on this bus for two years. Maybe I’m a slacker. Maybe I don’t have much extra time. Maybe it was a lot of work.
All I know is that its almost road worthy, and I’m excited to see the end.
Thank you for all the nice words, and a big thank you to JJ for giving me space to build my personal projects at KCW.
Speaker wire under the headliner, and component systems in the rear corners.
Grey sponge bus door type seal for the top with Brass retainer strips.
in reply to: Ultimate Vanagon #8161The idea is that the air spins around the filter as it enters the housing. The dirt gets slung to the outside because of its weight and falls down/out.
I don’t know….Mostly I was after something to keep the filter dry and shielded.
in reply to: Parkway projects #8160Buffed everything from the driver’s door to the passenger corner. Bueno!
