I had a great meeting today with the PO of this bus.  He owned it from 1983 until he sold it to the guy I bought it from.

    A couple items:

    1.   His son blew the engine when he was 17.   It never was on the road past that day which was around 1988.
    2. They did NOT buy this from the original owner.   They bought it off of a used car lot in Loveland, Co.  he is gonna try to look for some records to see if I can continue looking for the earlier owners.
    3. The bus was used extensively for camping for several years all arouNd COlorado.
    4. They made NO modifications to the bus while they owned it.   The bus was purchased and had been unmodified since 1983…..and hopefully we can keep going backward to find the total history.
    5. He is going to send me some pictures of the busses camping adventures for me to post.
    6. The P.O. lives in Arizona but used to live the n Montrose.

I also also sent in a request for a birth certificate and perhaps that will continue to provide more clues on ththe busses history.

I’ve been looking through all the piles of bumper parts and I found a decent set in the trailer, are you reusing them Tom or are they going in the stock pile? How much do you want for them?

Hi Dario.    Well…….John and I cut a deal a while back.   As part of the deal, John got to keep all the parts of my car for his use and I gave him cash to pay for more parts needed for the vert.  So, I guess…..all the parts taken off my vert actually belong to John.   So, I shouldn’t get anything.   You should cut a deal with JJ since he owns all the spare parts.     Thanks.

I got the mobile number of the guy who was the 2nd owner.   We will get this all figured out.  I’m hoping the original owner is still around.  It will be fun the document the history and start creating some more.

Damn.  That sucks.   Should we fix?  Or just order a new long block?  Not sure the  cost and time differential.

Yeh. I’m pretty pumped.  The bus needs work but it’s in great hands.  68,000 original miles, all OG paint, the tent is really cool.   Should be awesome once the boys dial her in.

Now im hanging out in cedar city with a diverted emergency landing on an overheating plane.   Stuck in cedar city for the night.  Where the hell is cedar city?  Fun never ends……..

Seeing as my quazi-Kanadian brother is too busy riding bikes to post here I thought this was appropriate ?

Creig has been texting me.  He’s been trying to get a login but it keeps bombing-out on him.     Someone’s got to hook him up so we can see more poo poo pics.

I was digging through parts today. I didn’t see the dome light you were talking about. Did it come with the car? Or seperately? It may be packed away with new parts. Also, noticed that we need to locate a 3 wire semaphore switch.

the guy said it was in with all the stuff….apparently it isn’t.   I will be on the lookout.   I will also source the sema switch.    Do you mean the actual switch on the steering column?

Probably worried about their “tourist industry” If X number of vw vans are going to camp out, times 2 or 3 occupants = Y hotel rooms and restaurants that are not making money.

The Moab party on November 11th sounds like perfect timing, Franz, to make sure that Westy camper is road worthy………….You and the fam should shoot for that and give a good test run.   I will ship it home afterwards. 😉

    huh ?

The Jamaican Maple guy texted me yesterday with a barrage of questions about my vert.   It made me think more about some of the additional details about the build.    I just threw them on the site.
