Stock height is right! Stay strong mike! Hot dayum that color
Thanks for the encouragement!
Things are moving fast at KCW. Â You guys are rolling! Â The updates are great.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33814The 195/80 tires always look kind of puny to me…probably because I’m accustom to the bfg’s i say go for the load rated 205
Sounds good. I’ll order them and have them sent to KCW. Does that work best?
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33767Box found!!!!!
Great to hear. I hope the box that contains my OG windows is hiding in a safe place as well 😎 That one was in the bus when I dropped the rig off.
in reply to: Scotty's 59DC #33761 DubSplash is Apr 27-28 near Joe Pool Lake in the Dallas area… you going? I recently got a nice DOKA with a sweet GTI engine swap that I was planning to drive… but I could be persuaded to roll the DC
Crap that’s coming up. I went last year. It’s a cool event. I’ll be there, obviously the DC won’t.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33745There is a lot of MF’ing tires out there and I don’t know squat about them. Franz can you take a look at these:
P205/75R-15
-HANKOOK OPTIMO https://simpletire.com/hankook-p205-75r15-1010990-tires
-HANKOOK KINERGY ST https://simpletire.com/hankook-205-75r15-1022043-tires these have a high load rating than the OPTIMO
I also found some 195/15 that the “cool kids” on TS were chatting up.
-THUNDERER RANGERÂ https://simpletire.com/thunderer-195-r15c-th0315-tires?stmodel=ranger-r101&stcategory=other&sttype=light-truck&msclkid=d8b73f1784241dc96c6d634d9f11c02d&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Finch%20Shopping%3A%2018685%20US%203&utm_term=4579191051929303&utm_content=104833%3A%20Thunderer%20Ranger%20R101%20Tires%20195%2FR15C%20106P%20TH0315&utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_content=85386-VigLink+Content&awc=15439_1554059104_9bc42c9a101dde8b7aed2db40abc5b96
Let me know if any of these are suitable and I can order and have’em sent to the shop.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33742John…I found the list of parts in the box I sent. They are as follows:
·     Throttle linkage
·     Vent flap and rebuild kit (new, Wolfsburg West)
·     Air Duct Seal (new)
·     Gas Compartment Screws
·     Safari Windshield Wiper Hardware & Switch.
·     Gas and Clutch Rubber pads
·     Turn Switch & Hardware
·     Bench seat hardware
·     Steering column pad (knee protector)
·     Headlight switch
·     Window latches
·     Repop m-code plate.
·     Wiper linkages
·     Wiper motor
·     Side gate latch stops
in reply to: Scotty's 59DC #33733Scotty, when I was thinking of trying to hack my way through my resto, I found your build thread on the (old) KCW site. That’s how I ended up just sending my Crew Cab to KCW. The fact that these guys do amazing work and have the transparency to post it all is truly unique.
What part of Texas are you in? I’m in Frisco. Once mine’s done, we’ll have to get the Doubles side by side at a Texas VW event. It’ll be KCW Restoratations 2009 and 2019.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33732The tank is new and the petcock was rebuilt last year. The OG tank had leak where the tank met the neck. When that leaks on a DC, the cab fills with fumes and everyone gets a headache. First thing I replaced.
Gotta have good brakes. I have 2 little Double Cab fans at home in booster seats that I want to be safe. They’re the ones that need to take care of this ride when I’m gone.
Removeables look saaaaweat!
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33724John. I have the speedo, gas tank, seats, & interior panels. I need to get box big enough to send you the gas tank, I’ll probably put the speedo in there. I’ll get those out in the next day or so. I’ve been slacking.
Sent a few parts in early Dec. Franz said they arrived on Dec 7th (bottom of page 8). They got there right before the disk brakes arrived. I know the wiper motor and linkages where in that box, I’ll check on the rest. Printed a list, which was in the box, so I can confirm when I get home tonight.
New wiring harness for sure. I want to minimize the risk of electrical gremlins and fire, so I wanna start fresh with the wiring.
Can’t believe we are talking about assembly!
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33710Sounds like a busy week this week!
Franz, I do like the BFG’s, but I think I’m going to go for less aggressive tire. I’m not looking for OG Bias Plys, instead some “stock looking” Radials. The bus is more likely to be riding on the concrete here in N. Texas than the landscape you all have in Colorado & Utah. I did some lookin’ online last night at tires and there is a too much info. You mentioned to look for 215/75/15, but on TS they all say 205/75/15 is closest to stock. I just want to make sure I’m looking at the right stuff for the engine, gearing, and fit in the wheel wells. Please confirm.
Loving the pictures of how this came out. Keep’em coming.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33661Sorry. RGB’s, Stock height, stock wheels.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33613Holy crap! Look at the shine on that MoFo. Knocked it out of the park!
Looks like a long day for you guys. Thanks for keeping at it until the shine was done. I hope you’re crackin’ beers tonight. Job well done!
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33604Oh man! Looking good.
Loving the updates. Me again today refresh on browser, refresh, refresh, refresh, refresh…
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33567Thanks Chris. Looks great!
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #33564Those pics are super helpful. They really show the contrast to the primer. I’m happy with the color as well, and I’m glad it’s actually a VW original. I see more L21 in your future 🙂
