The patient is walking again!!! It’s good to see the DC back in the open air sitting on it’s own tires.
Franz…To your point, I think the hubcaps look decent. Unfortunately, decent isn’t enough. I think the hubcaps will look better painted to match the truck (perl grau) with the emblem matching the emblem, bumpers, and wheels (white).mdubgParticipantJune 24, 2019 at 5:59 pmPost count: 294mdubgParticipantJune 24, 2019 at 2:48 pmPost count: 294
John…the VIN plate package is with FedEx. They claim it will be there tomorrow by 10:30am. I soaked it in rust remover last night, because it had some light rust between when I cleaned it up last time (months ago) and last night. Is there anything that can be put on it so it doesn’t just fester back behind the engine?mdubgParticipantJune 23, 2019 at 9:51 pmPost count: 294mdubgParticipantJune 21, 2019 at 11:14 pmPost count: 294mdubgParticipantJune 21, 2019 at 9:57 amPost count: 294mdubgParticipantJune 20, 2019 at 7:20 pmPost count: 294mdubgParticipantJune 20, 2019 at 10:19 amPost count: 294mdubgParticipantJune 19, 2019 at 8:53 pmPost count: 294mdubgParticipantJune 19, 2019 at 9:43 amPost count: 294mdubgParticipantJune 19, 2019 at 9:05 amPost count: 294mdubgParticipantJune 18, 2019 at 10:03 amPost count: 294mdubgParticipantJune 18, 2019 at 7:29 amPost count: 294
So excited. Brakes are looking money! The DC is literally getting closer to landing on the ground.
Bummer about having the motor half torn down. Does Painter’s run their long blocks on a stand before shipping it out? I’m assuming they didn’t hear anything when it left. I know you guys will chase away the gremlins!mdubgParticipantJune 17, 2019 at 11:17 amPost count: 294mdubgParticipantJune 16, 2019 at 6:58 amPost count: 294mdubgParticipantJune 14, 2019 at 9:59 pmPost count: 294mdubgParticipantJune 14, 2019 at 11:56 amPost count: 294

I don’t know why VW had different design for the Brazilian steering boxes. Driving with that steering box was super stechy. Maybe there are other changes to Brazilian buses that compensate for the steer box. I’m glad to have it back to a German part. The truck is looking immaculate!
