in reply to: RC Randomness #81893This is PRANDTL-m, PRANDTL 3c’s little brother…18 incher dropped from an Eflite carbon cub…talk about fast and hard to see!
in reply to: RC Randomness #81891MikeK is right the Radian and UMX Radian are really good for motor gliders…there are some VERY high performance motor gliders out there but you’re talking THOUSANDS of dollars. for a couple hundred bux the Radian is a winner. I’ve had both and the Radian PRO but the Pro isn’t as docile and as cruiser as the standard Radian. sloping is an awesome part of the RC flying hobby. I would imagine there are some incredible slope sites and probably some great thermal areas in or around Grand Junction. hers a couple shots of the biggest one I’ve ever flown…its a work aircraft…25′ wingspan PRANDTL 3c..you can look up the PRANDTL stuff on YouTube.
in reply to: Parkway projects #76660And just because I think its cool…one more lol
in reply to: Parkway projects #76659I remember my Parkway days…that was and still is one of the coolest VW memories I have. my car was transformed from a poorly running car that I loved to hate, to a great running car I just love now. taking my car to KCW and getting it all “right” made owning and maintaining it so much easier and enjoyable…I chased my tail for a long time now I just fix stuff as it comes up and upgrade as I want. I’ve put more miles on my car since my KCW experience than I had all the years before. I have owned the OLDMANN for 17 years…cant believe its been that long.
The coolest thing I’ve ever done in my car was a trip to roosters with JJ and crew…JJ drove the OLDMANN and I got to drive a one of a kind fully restored Royal Mail bus…the first time I’d ever driven or eve ridden in a bus and it was one of the rarest and nicest busses in the world…yeah JJ is THAT cool! Thanks for that memory buddy!
more recent pic after some upgrades…LOVE my car again 🙂

in reply to: RC Randomness #75952hell yeah!!! its all down hill from here…you’re gonna get bit by the flying bug as soon as you get a flight in!
in reply to: RC Randomness #75144I’m still around, I lurk on the site every day. I wish I was closer, I’d love to help you learn to fly. I could learn to work on my VW and you could learn to fly lol! Glad to hear you guys are doing well. Heres some more work stuff just for kicks.
in reply to: RC Randomness #75072Heres a pic of the apprentice and a link to it
in reply to: RC Randomness #75071Hey John,
The Eflite Carbon cub is a cool plane but not one I’d recommend for a newbie, there are better choices to get ya in the air with success that will be a great stepping stone to the bigger cub. A tricycle gear plane would be way more user friendly. Tail draggers take more skill to take off and land. That little Pulse is a great flying plane…I have its big brother and fly the shit out of it but will still be more challenging than a tricycle gear. If you get on Horizon Hobby website and look up the Apprentice, I think that would fit the bill a bit better. That DX6i you have can be used with the Eflite BNF aircraft as well, thats a great little starter radio. you LHS should be able to order anything you want off of the Horizon Hobby website.
on a side note, we worked the RCX expo in Pomona this weekend…we brought some work planes for display…also attached a pic of the big pulse.
in reply to: JJ’s Silver Bullet #67068When I see this I cant help but think of what Hans did with FMJ split. Big motor fully detailed underneath and inside but bare metal and pinstriped and cleared outside. This is by far my favorite bug of all time. Full details here: https://www.oldbug.com/fmj.htm
in reply to: RC Randomness #60235Looking good Ben!
in reply to: Willbur's 65 SO42 #58384I think Will has his bus ready to go… He has been here working on his and Glenn’s manx project they bought and some how convinced me I should let them work on it here…
Which is fine for the most part…. Would be sweet if you checked all the doors before you left, and maybe locked the gate right… AND…. One of the pre requisites for working on personal projects around here, projects the shop is not making any money on, I look forward to the extra traffic and hype and posts that it will generate if posted and if the thread is maintained and updated daily will maybe make up for a little tiny but of the loss of haveing an outside project here..
1 person is enough… But Willy always has a FAN club with him also… almost always…
Ok.. as you will… Leave no trace, do as I would do..
Maybe this is just JJ giving Will a hard time so please disregard if I’m out of line…but if not it sounds like the typical “taking it for granted” mentality…If I was close enough and had the opportunity to work in a shop like KCW and be around people like the KCW crew/Family, there would be no way on earth I could leave a trace…If anything, instead of ” leave no trace” it would be “oh cool that fat red bearded dude was here and made some improvements before he left” lol. Anyone that has KCW as their local shop is extremely lucky…I personally would kill to have that place close to me.
in reply to: KCW randomness #52935I just saw it pop up on IG yesterday, it was on @baggedpatina…not sure how recent the pic was. that car was built a long time ago but still holds up and turns heads today 😎
