Sorry JJ not a poster… But glad Sarah gets the shout out. Franz was mentioning that it was lowered and the plan was to bring it back to the original level, is that something that we could do?

Not often you see a head in where the engine is supposed to be. It will be interesting to see what it looks like with out the chrome firewall.

No problem, you guys are on top of it, Thankyou.  The KCW experience also includes all the social media stuff and documentation of your build!!!  Easy to share with old owners, family members etc.. The more I can engage the customer in the build, the better all around. 😎

You are up to bat Dan!! 😎 😎  I’ll keep churning away until Sarah tells me to stop or I need parts…  😎  😎  😎

Glad you said something.  I was gonna shoot for having the engine in today but not now..  I got the firewall out, then there was chrome insulation stick on, very f’n stick on, I am getting off now. 😎  fun shit..   There is a reason stock engine bays had Black tar board..    Chrome reflects the motors heat right back to it..  and then right back to the firewall, and so on, The fan is sucking in this hot air and cooling less etc and so on…

Your engine bay seals suck.  all torn and what not.   I am going to dig the remnants out and get the chrome sticky out and clean up this engine bay…  I also notice your wiring sucks in the engine bay.. I need to see how much and how far back it sucks.

Then I will start the raising process..  Funny how many Volkswagens I have raised back up….  😎  Kings of Slam to “Stock height is all right”  😎  😎

Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎

I remember my Parkway days…that was and still is one of the coolest VW memories I have. my car was transformed from a poorly running car that I loved to hate, to a great running car I just love now. taking my car to KCW and getting it all “right” made owning and maintaining it so much easier and enjoyable…I chased my tail for a long time now I just fix stuff as it comes up and upgrade as I want. I’ve put more miles on my car since my KCW experience than I had all the years before. I have owned the OLDMANN for 17 years…cant believe its been that long.

The coolest thing I’ve ever done in my car was a trip to roosters with JJ and crew…JJ drove the OLDMANN and I got to drive a one of a kind fully restored Royal Mail bus…the first time I’d ever driven or eve ridden in a bus and it was one of the rarest and nicest busses in the world…yeah JJ is THAT cool! Thanks for that memory buddy!

more recent pic after some upgrades…LOVE my car again 🙂

Thanks Justin!!  😎😎😎😁😁🤔.   Franz knows how to put ‘em together!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

sooo..  Dan..  you have adjustable spring plates in the rear, with spaced out covers..    do you want stock spring plates or adjust these up?  I’d prefer stock if I were you😎….    Your front end..,  they turned the top and bottom tubes to lower it..  typical,    Question..,  re cut and turn back to stock and reweld…. Fast, why they did it that way..  or complete tear down and replace with a good stock unit???   You got some disc brakes in the front and new drum brakes in the rear.  Looks like we need shocks all around..   what would I do in the front???  Pull out the whole beam, cut one tube at a time and reweld..   some tear down required…..

What would be the safest thing to do for the front. If what you said is and will be the best long term thing then that should be what we do.

My goal is to teach our 5 and 3 year old boys how to drive stick in it and it’s got to last and be safe.

Your answer is why you brought it here.  You want it how I would want it.  Cause I’m trying to build shit that last and makes people smile!!  👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I don’t like adjustable spring plates.  So I will round up some originals.    That will take care of the rear.👍🏻  Hope I can nail the spring plate setting 🤫🤫🤫🤫

the front.  Nothing wrong with a cut and turned front end..  but I don’t really want to add another set of welds around your tubes.   Everything breaks at the weld🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫. I could cut it right on their welds🤔🤔🤔🤔. Regardless, I guess I am pulling the whole front end out and apart..   I wish it had some adjusters ☹️☹️☹️☹️  Not sure  I have anymore early front ends laying around…. And I gotta tear another one apart..   sounds like a lot of work….  Re cut and turn is sounding better 😎😎😎

I still have an original beam (I think from a 74)  I’d sell or maybe swap for stuff I can use from the back yard left overs ? It’s dirty and crusty, but you would be cleaning and blasting for a rebuild any way.100_0011

That’s King and Link..  This car is ball joint..  But I would be more than happy to buy or trade for that beam… 😎

A brand new Empi beam is like $299.

You couldn’t sand blast and paint one for that price.
