I did my normal rounds on the engine, then went over and tidy’d up a few things.

- nut-zert on the coil
- re-routed a few wires and took off any plastic collars on connections
- swapped faulty electronic ignition for points
- increased idle jet to 55
- measure/marked true TDC
- adjusted advance base line and limit to 11-29 degrees
- hooked-up and adjusted choke
- removed the pre-heat flap from the air cleaner
Welded the spring brace back to the skin and touched up with some anthracite paint.

Yeah man, all over it. I did some shimming on the link pins, installed a couple grease zerks, cut the shock dust covers, flipped the shocks, changed fuel hoses. Removed the hard start relay, then fixed the root of the problem. Corroded ignition switch contacts, battery cable, and starter.
The glass fuel filter and this location was no bueno. Surely cause some vapor lock issues. I put a plastic filter in the engine bay after the fuel pump.FranzKeymasterSeptember 28, 2017 at 8:50 amPost count: 3627

After that I think I’ll have it pretty much dialed mechanically. I’m going to come in way under budget, and still have tomorrow to do stuff. Anything else you can think of? Paint/detail the wheels? I could pull the fender guards like we talked about. But not sure I’ll have enough time before the weekend to do correct paint repairs. You’re still coming this weekend?

actually, I’m coming next weekend…sorry if I made it sound like it was this weekend, I meant the first full weekend of October.
as far as other stuff goes…how about rear shocks? did you figure out what was puking fluid on the tranny? i replaced one of the boots but the other one was old…maybe replace those? the horn has never worked that would be cool to have working. are the brakes good to go? I redid them but wanted you to make sure they were adjusted and stuff. the gravel guards being gone would really cool…if you can make em go away without it being too obvious they were there go for it. i think the speedo could use some love, the odo doesn’t work and one of the idiot lights doesn’t idiot lol.

you know…………I’ve always wanted some Porsche alloys….is there a way to re-drill drums and have both bolt patterns? JJ mentioned that he had some OG bumpers…what about something like that?
I’ve seen you guys do some bitchin headlights…the ones on there are kinda cheesy repops….

Yeah I adjusted the brakes and pedal stops. I noticed that the brake fluid was dark. I replaced with new, and bleed out.
