Dario is probably bumming about his runs. I’d say he did a good job for his first time behind the trigger.

    Sand it again! 😀

Peet and I spent the holiday weekend working on this bus. Everything going together at the same time.

Check out the difference in these barndoor torsion springs. One set has 4 really thick springs. The others are the more common style and have 5 leaves. I had to combine a couple sets to replace broke/cracked springs for this bus.

Its been a long evening assembling carbs. Fully rebuilt spainish 48IDF Webers w/new throttle shaft bearings, floats, valves, and mixture screws.

I did some alodine coating to make them goofy.

The horn has contact points inside. They look just like you would find in a distributor for the ignition points.  Its a good idea to clean them.

There is also a tone adjustment screw on the back. Usually they are set pretty close to where they need to be.

Lever shocks and beam final paint prep.                                             The original transaxle reunited with its chassis is a beautiful thing.

Adam Hughes hooked us with a OG horn. I don’t think it needs much more than a good cleaning.

    Panels suck.

Finding 4 window doors is big money. Plus time to fix and paint. Patching your hack doors is a lot of work, and will not be an “OG” like repair.

I’d enlarge the holes to fit Bubba’s windows. Polish the aluminum and install with new seals It’ll look mint.

You could move the passenger rear cargo door to the driver front if you wanted to change the window arrangement.

How do you feel about paint stripping? Take off the green to yellow? Keep going to the dove blue? Or sand and re-paint?

Panel buses suck. Its like a dungeon in the back. Great for hiding junk. Bad for a camper.

You bus is already hacked. Embrace it. Maybe get some different style windows?

Bubba has these for sale on samba. They would look good on your bus.

^^ Haha, yeah. It takes a year to do the body and paint resto, then three weeks to put it back together. 😀

This bus was rusty…but it was also very complete and original. Its soul is intact, and showing more by each OG piece we put back on.

I’m looking for a pair of headlight bulb holders. These ones are a little different, and only came on 54-55 north american spec buses with sealed beam headlights. Maybe some of you serious bus guy have some stashed? Or maybe your a hobbyist with a pile of random headlights/parts. Either way I’ll pay you good money for one or two in any condition.
