About time for another house update!!
They ripped up the floor in the second bedroom, just had to do the half by the exterior like in the front room ππ»
All leveled out again ππ»
My mom is standing in the back/second bedroom which used to clearly be the back of the house π she took that window out and we will be dry-walling over it in that bedroom, and building built-in shelves on this side of it for my future laundry area!
The beginnings of dealing with the floor/plumbing in the only bathroom in the house… not looking great… I guess someone used some RV plumbing along the way also π this will turn into a powder room and area where the shower is will be a pantry ππ»
The concrete pad in this room – future Main bath- was lifting… so we had it cut it up to see what was going on under it/pull it up… it appears it was just poorly poured πhereβs another view of that back area… so to the right in this view the laundry will be in the back corner, and to the left is going to be the main big bathroom ππ» Iβm moving this wall out and shortening it so the hall to the backyard can feel more open ππ»
They also opened up the entrance into the master bedroom closet π
framed it out! And took the stairs to the attic out of the closet ππ»ππ»pictures are slacking in this thread… progress has far exceeded the amount of pics…. π π π
Been a wild ride, but it got me here π
Damm it looks pretty Β good. Seems like your enjoying yourself Β Β Thatβs the key to finish a project
lota hard work pays off.
thanks Jesse!! We are having fun for sure! π
Hereβs Scott, our contractor, Β smiling away at how much fun heβs having at 850 Kimball!! ππ
they ripped out the bathroom and floor awhile back, wanted to put this one up cause itβs easier to see where we will be putting a pantry in where this shower was… and turn the rest of the bathroom into a hall/powder room ππ»
the floor under the bathroom was REAL bad… lots of water damagemy mom and I helped scrape old drywall texture off the ceiling in the front bedroom.. and that room was the first one to get a bunch of drywall/texture love…
this is the wall between the kitchen and living room… you can see how much precious owners LOVED wallpaper π like 3 layers of paint and 6 more layers of wallpaper under that on most walls π
hereβs some more in the back bedroom…
oh and Scott loved those stairs from the closet so I have a cute little ships ladder staircase up to the attic from this bedroom and a Very usable size closet that will work for both bedrooms!
check out this vintage wall paper! The first layer! Probably from the 20s…
they rebuilt the wall between the powder room/ pantry and kitchen since it was pretty rotten… and rebuilt and supported the bathroom floor too ππ» All new plumbing for the most part going in! The old bathroom was mostly plumbed with RV stuff apparently π¬
Heres that wall from the pantry view ππ»
I decided I wanted to open that wall between the living and kitchen even more so we did it!! It looks GREAT!! In the future there will be cabinets on the kitchen side of that half wall and a counter extending on both sides so there is an island/eating area πππ» Really brings the air and light through the whole house even more! The front bedroom is officially all drywalled and textured and looking really nice! The drywall/plaster and texture part is more time consuming than I realized… we donβt have drywall everywhere… a lot of the walls are Adobe even interior ones so we have to plaster over the cracks and get all that damn wall paper off…So itβs pretty tedious π Β
Scottβs closing up ceiling in the bedroom closets so the attic will have even more space ππ» Iβll have to grab a picture of the attic… itβs all finished and pretty spacey- I can stand up and walk around in there π now it can be a little bonus room and storage above the closetΒ They are building up the floor in the back area, which was clearly an addition, so the house is all up on one level ππ» Easier to run new plumbing under there this way too so we can create a full bath and seperate laundry space
scott also got the front step back smooth instead of crumbling as it was before πmore plaster and drywall! In the living room… and to answer your question, yes they did put wallpaper on the ceiling ππ
hereβs that back area just a few days later!! Plumbing going in for the second toilet, tub/shower, vanity and laundry across the hall nice and hidden behind this divider wall ππ»
Hereβs the legos put together πΒ since JJ upgraded the clean shop swamp cooler earlier this year, we decided to move the old one over to my house for now! Pinner, our awesome neighbor who did the shop one for us, has been helping get it all moved and set up between other jobs! So awesome of him since itβs been 100-105 degrees all week π₯΅ thanks Pinner!JJ also had an excuse to play with his forklift π
Itβs nice and hidden away in the back on the side right by the neighbors house ππ» Perfect! Just needs some new parts and pads and itβll be ready to rock!
Ragtop Ron has been helping Scott on this project too!! Thanks Ron!!
Wow! I love that cool old wallpaper. Opening up the kitchen and living room made such a big difference! The island was a great idea too. It’s starting to take shape
So awesome!!!Β π
Been a wild ride, but it got me here π
Ya! That old wallpaper is really cool, but definitely not jealous of you trying to strip it all!
Really starting to take shape now. The fun part is next.
Awwww! Go Audrey! You all have made so much progress! Love the idea to open up the wall π
Thanks everyone!! We have made lots of progress for sure..Β I mean, we only closed about 6 weeks ago!
Lots of stuff got done yesterday!
Cut out a new window we are putting in the back of the house, and a new little window for the bathroom! Plus a doggy door of course!
Ron also got started filling in the window between the back bedroom and the laundry area ππ»
itβs looking so good!! Iβm so happy with how itβs turning out βΊοΈLooking great Audrey.
I love how you guys can use raw pine in the construction.
In our part of Australia we need to use treated pine because of the termites.
Once you get rid of the wallpaper ,the rooms will actually be larger !
