Thanks so much for all the love and support on buying a house!!! Iโm so excited for this awesome opportunity and so thankful for my Mom and Dad who I definitely couldn’t have done it without! ๐ฅฐ
Here she is… 850 Kimball Ave!! Iโll be right down the road from KCW so I never have to miss out on all the fun going on ever again!!
I think we should just throw full on Block Parties now ๐๐ฅณ
My Mom and I are partnering up to do this project together of course – so youโll hear a bunch from both of us Iโm sure ๐ who knows, if we have enough fun with this project we might just keep buying and fixing up Kimball!๐This is from Closing Day 5/4/21! Whoo hoo!!!
The location is the biggest draw for sure!! Literally across and down the street – my mom likes to look over at it from up on deck ๐ plus our contractor Scottโs shop is right down the road too – he built KCWs building way back and my parents house!
Itโs also on a HUGE lot – so Iโm thinking I need to start coming up with a business plan for VW parking rates ๐๐
The house itself is still really solid though- built in 1925 out of Adobe bricks!! So although weโre going to end up redoing ALOT, the bones are strong ๐๐ป๐ช๐ป Itโs also got a barn and shed in the back that are both actually pretty clean and big on the inside! The most recent inhabitants were not legally allowed to be on the property and were likely living in those back buildings… there is lots of evidence of activities that go hand in hand with that ๐ but hey- nothing a little clean up canโt get rid of!
Hereโs a few Before pics…
Weed in the backyard- literally ๐ย
TONS of garbage/junk all over the outside of the property to clean up, the floors in both bedrooms and the bathroom are either majorly sloping or not attached at all and acting more as a trampoline! ๐
lots of work to do! But the location makes it no biggie to take our time if we need to ๐๐ป
If I canโt sleep/go potty in the house, then all those nights in Greta on the lot still counts as camping nights over my dad, right?!? ๐
Fun Size๐๐ป
Sweet!!ย Blank Slate!
Consider me your first customer! Congrats, Audrey!
sweet congrats, diamond in the rough.
i’m sure it’s going to be great when done
Looks cozy, and quite the project. But I know the Jones’ energy will prevail. I think camping in the back yard in ones’ bus definitely counts.:)
I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.
Huge Congrats Audacious Audrey..
WOW !! who wouldn’t want to own a historic house in beautiful Colorado.I’m sure with the support and energy of your strong, creative family and close friends ,you’ll make this your special place.
“From little things ,big things grow”
As someone who’s full name is Kimbal,I can relate to owning a whole street….DO WORK and enjoy in large doses.
I just had a look on Google maps.Does the Fire Truck come with the house?
KIM
Test Pilot @ Submarine AirwaysDang Audrey! That looks really nice! vintage adobe, solid house for sure. I was picturing something more like the boarded up one by the compound…
Big lot= super plus!! That thing is better than money in the bank!
I wish there was opportunities like that in my hood.
Yes John you should own the whole block ๐
Congrats! ย Have fun with it. ย Very little is more satisfying that seeing the results of fixing up an old home yourself. ย Look forward to following along!
Fire truck is not included๐ , but maybe we can snag the lot under it one day!
The project is moving along well! This was our first full week with Scott & crew there! Audrey, John & I did some demo over the weekend, making it nice start fir the crew! Audrey had done great pics!!!
I am having a great time! Demo & dump runs are my current jobs๐๐๐๐๐
I am super excited to see this beauty done๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
I love going on adventures in our bus!!!
Great stuff Gretchen…..The Fire truck lot….Plan B !!
KIM
Test Pilot @ Submarine AirwaysWow!! Thanks so much guys!!! ๐ itโs going to be a big but fun project for sure!!
I think itโs so cool that this house is historic, coming onto 100 years old very soon! The Adobe bricks are SOLID too… I hear buildings made out of Adobe can stand for thousands of years if cared for properly.. hopefully the work we are doing will help preserve it better than it was before ๐
Last week/weekend we got started on some yard and shed clean up + did major demo!!
I moved Greta over to her new house! Feels good to have a VW on the property!! Need to get some more over here… She looks lonely on this big spacious lot! ๐คญ๐Fun Size๐๐ป
My current house was a 1948 built renovation project. ย It had carpet over the hardwood floors that was soooo ugly that when I was unloading it at the dump one weekend a random stranger recognized it from having looked at the home while it was listed.
Itโs hard work but Iโm a bit envious of you all. ย Thereโs so much cool stuff out nowadays to incorporate into remodels.
Gettin’ some shit done Jones’s
Yo !!!
Is this house historically listed or can you add stuff like a verandah and deck out the front?
KIM
Test Pilot @ Submarine AirwaysAudrey’s first house!!!!ย ย She’s doing right!!!!ย She owns a home in the Historic District of Grand Junction!ย Bought it low… and is now going to start bringing values UP on Kimball ave!!!!
Proud and Stubborn ๐๐ป
