Hey Tom, I have a rat bagged set of OG safaris for sale that I bet Franz would be dying to spend 40 hrs repairing 🤣
in reply to: all things JJJ’s #35841That’s Awesome progress!!!!!
got even more done tonight!
Nice. Early bus distributor even. Heat?
Ya picked that up at a swap few years back and just dropped it smashing the nos cap into a million pieces haha I also have a fancy CB performance digital programable advance jobbie…..might run that and keep a mechanical one in the roadtrip Kit?
I dunno about heater boxes on a 2332….. we been talking about buying some of those propane heaters to plumb in?
in reply to: all things JJJ’s #35805Thx Pete! Do it JJ! I’ll take you and Corporate up to the other end of the island with the high grade 👊
in reply to: JJ's projects #35793Semi hemi heads Mid 7’s?!? JJ Berg? Haha
in reply to: all things JJJ’s #35792Haven’t got as much done in the bus as would have liked last bit but night or 2 a week is better than none! Got the steering box all rebuilt mixing and matching parts from several boxes to make a mint one 👍 installed it and got all pedals in and functioning, cables run in all the new conduits👌 Man this is gonna be a killer driver!!! Went with some badass small port small valve torque master heads from type E Motorsports in South Dakota….they flow killer numbers at ripping airspeed….really excited to see how they perform in the bus!
Specs are almost same as Johnnys barndoor motor but I told him mine was gonna wax him in the kombi hahaha!!!
2332cc
W-120 cam on 1.25s 1.5” SS A1 IDAs 9:1 comp 40×35 heads….another 100mph plus roadtrip monster bus coming up!😍
Made an adapter out of a beetle splined steering shaft, machined the matching taper as bud shaft, cut a key way in and now can run this early split std 3 spoke I pulled off a bush buggy on saltspring island years ago.
Almost got the motor together too, just glued together the bottom end other night and set endplay, thinking I should be able to get built up to a longblock by the end of week? Can carry on with tin fits, started the T4 cooler mod already. Got my IDAs all dialed in proper and ready to rock as well🤘🤘
in reply to: 1961 Flipseat Westy, $15K (Canada) #35791We sat in Lind’s new crazy low mile (like 31xxx or some shit!) all night and got shitfaced few weekends ago in Spokane….the setup makes for a killer camper!
in reply to: KCW randomness #35404KB you’re my hero!
in reply to: Je$$e’s (aka Tintop) Projects #35302Hurry up Jesse! I’m racing u!😜
in reply to: all things JJJ’s #35254Having a shit ton of fun! Was my first chance to get up to shop since my big push….order of parts came in from CIP….final things like e brake cables and shocks/tie rods irs seals etc
Inner IRS arm clamps are sitting with 2 bolts loose, still need to dial camber in a bit but hot damn! She’s on the floor!👍👍
in reply to: The Official KCW Gear Ratio Calculator #35189Sweet! I ran what I think is in this IRS box from Parker and @65 I’ll be a pussy over 3k
in reply to: Toms rhd Oval Vert #34933UNk u gotta be jacked! This vert is gonna be killer! New top is pimp, keep the wheels, no pinstripe…too much. Get some nice alum Porsche lug nuts and some low key centre caps on there be money! 💵 some 205/70’s or 195/65’s on back….what are those rubber bands on there now?
in reply to: all things JJJ’s #34929No drag race engine….copy of johnnys barndoor stove. But I told him it was gonna be faster than his haha. w120 IDAs 9:1 40×35 heads that flow crazy numbers but at killer port velocity so gobs of torque! Ya it’s gonna rip but not a high strung beast by any means!! The manifolds were kinda a joke…..they needed welding so I asked for some extra meat to port the short radius….kinda got carried away haha looking like pro stock drag car intakes!
the disk brake hats….ya there was a little booboo indexing the inner to outer bolt patterns when I had the steel hats machines lighter (they were tanks!) machinist friend had to re make and we swapped to Alum😊
in reply to: all things JJJ’s #34922Took all this week off my day job to hammer down on my bus. Jrod did too👍 Our friend Patrick Hall came up from Oregon as well to return some labour from his barndoor build last year…..crazy how much work can get accomplished with extra hands in the shop!
Parker gave me a bolt on IRS kit that came out of his 21. Patrick has had 20 years of experience with IRS conversions….was awesome to have him here for that expertise!! We got a 4” beam sorted out, rear control arms notched for frame clearance and dimpled for shocks. Built a set of adjustable springplates out of some og bus cores. New shiftrod made from chromoly tube. Monster prep day and spray session of black imron. Shit came out great!! Johnny got some new shoes mounted up to the crowsfeet 165/60 front and 195/65 rear.
Beam is in and link pin shims all set. spindles on and my big disk brakes going on. Ended the day with hanging the IRS stuff and torquing yo the springplates👍 Just got a text that my new badass cylinder heads are well underway and flowing great numbers just roughed in! Shipped my shortened IDA manifolds to him to get ported this week. This bus is quickly becoming a reality!
in reply to: Holy 55 Kombi Batman! #34564Killer ladder execution!
in reply to: all things JJJ’s #34563Hell ya Pete! This is gonna get me over the hump!!
The poor old oval? I keep procrastinating bringing it home cause I’m still setting up my new shop at home….we have my buddy’s PGSG in there already and busy building shelving and benches before the 55 comes out of hiding. Priority is the bus (even though building just a motor is easier/cheaper) The car is a toy…..wanna camp with my kids this summer in the higrade! But don’t worry…..the ragtop will see the light again!
Jrod is shortening the manifolds for my IDAs to give a little more room
Got the Frankenstein 51 split out of the shop and stored, kombi got pushed in up front and centre! GAME ON!!
