My daughter is never getting this car. She has her 2001 Nissan my parents gave her that I have dubbed the shit box (3 of the 4 windows don’t roll down among other things 😂).

My brother was wanting to sell the last VW he owns. He has had it for over a decade and it hasn’t run in at least 8 or 9 years. Just sat in his garage. So we came to a deal on it. I honestly have no clue if I can fit in it. I have never sat in it. I have never owned a low light so I figured what the hell, worst case I can sell it. I really wanted the Randar wheels too.

Christmas tree farming is probably a dumb idea but if it cuts my property taxes down substantially and once they hit maturity I can make a couple thousand $’s a year for car parts, win win. The goal is to plant 100 trees a year. I love making more work for myself

Damn near two months since I posted last……frick.  Family stuff, work and dumb entrepreneurial ideas have kept me busy with little time for my car stuff.  6 months ago I had an ingenious idea to attempt to be deemed a farm property (a huge break on my property taxes).  I got a hair up my ass to plant apple trees, cherry bushes and start a Christmas tree farm.  Like I know dick about any of the above.  So I have been clearing the property of black berry bushes, crappy dying pine trees and misc bushes.  I am nearly done prepping the ground, hopefully this week I will be ready to plant the 100 Noble Fir saplings I have coming.  Anyone else on here grow Christmas trees?  I have so much to learn.

I finally got the title for my ’73 bug build so I started ordering parts with what little cash I have.

Last week I made a quickly road trip to New Mexico to see my Grandpa turn 100. As a bonus I happened to be coming thru Las Vegas on my way home and brought my ’58 Ghia back that my brother has owned for the last 10-12 years.  I bought it a while ago, just didn’t have the motivation to go get it until this great reason for a road trip.  I believe it is numbers matching car.  My brother got it from the original owners family years ago.  It is lowered up front with one of Andy’s narrowed tax return special beams and original Randar’s that Randee did special for my brother in all black except the spokes.  Of course it snowed like crazy from Reno and through Northern California but made it home in one piece.

Hopefully I can stay motivated and update my thread more than once every two months.

I dropped the price to $3500.

Someone needs this more than I do.

That car was great in its original configuration and it sounds like you may be bringing it back to it’s former glory.  I have

been studying this exact car for ideas for my ’73 Standard I recently acquired.  Keep updating us on it.

    Pat or John,

Could you guys measure the Gerson metal bed piece that goes from the wall below the rear window to the large rear bed sections for me.  I am trying to see if they are long enough for my short single cab project.

Very tasteful improvement.  Nicer but not too nice so you can go collect more rock chips with Corporate

I am going with a class 11 style poser car. I am building it to run forest roads and such out here, and for the unsanctioned Franz Off-road Run. Just don’t want to be the guy that breaks down. Trying to build this once and build it well enough to take some beating without breaking the bank. All in fun.

Who sells the new Puma beams?  I have a guy locally that has a stock one I am going to look at this weekend. Hopefully it is straight.

Does anyone one have any experience using the radiused ball joints?  I used a set many moons ago for a lowered street car but wasn’t sure how well they hold up offroad.
