I will be heading from Oregon to central Kansas and back in the next two weeks.  If I don’t have anyone wanting one of my cars for sale I may have room to haul stuff on my car trailer if anyone is needing something hauled.  Would be nice to cover my gas and time for this trip.

Had a buyer who flaked out so this is back up for sale again.  Here is a new ad for the buggy and I have an engine for it along with 4 wheel disc brakes etc that it didn’t have before.  This is a great deal for someone.

I will be traveliing from Oregon to Central Kansas in the coming 2 weeks and may be able to assist with delivery for the right deal including delivery to KCW.

I might be interested in it if Bo isn’t. I should be rolling thru town in 2 weeks.

Thanks for the info and picture Franz. I didn’t think about using the bearing set up or shaft like that. Good idea on a quick release wheel. Might make it easier for my fat ass to get in.

As always, KCW has the answers

Dumb question here. What year steering column and what type of steering wheel are you running in this car?  I pulled the one out of my ‘73 and was hoping to just put in an early column to clean up the look of everything but the mounts are way different. Just curious

That’s what the mini single cab is for, a Christmas Tree farm write off

Thanks guys for the input. I was worried about blasting it and rushing to get it home so it won’t rust plus the finger prints etc.

I am not worried about the rhino liner being heavy as my fat ass will keep this thing from ever being light.

I started thinking about sealing around windows, handles and the door hinges would make a rhino liner a pain in the ass.

Guess I will just sand it, paint it and see what happens.

Thanks for the info on the rack Franz

In between my recent farming ambitions and working a lot I have been chipping away at my Class 11 Poser.  I have managed to strip most of the car (wiring, interior crap etc.).  Now I am looking at a fairly straight, very little rust shell with what looks like 2 coats of paint over the original factory yellow.  Here is my dilemma:

    1. Just paint over the crap paint, fix what dings and dents my dumbass probably won’t fix but probably make worse, then just coat the whole thing in a single stage paint and call it good.

    2. Strip it down via sand blasting or  other media, do some shitty Scott body work and paint it

    3.  Strip it via media blasting, paint it and then use a tinted spray on bed liner like Raptor for the whole outside

I am currently leaning towards option #3.  That way any crappy previous paint is gone so it won’t mess up whatever outstanding work I perform.  Plus I think the bed liner might make things more durable in the long run as I plan to use this on forest roads etc around here.  I am planning to pull the body off the pan to do it up too since this thing is getting at least a passenger side pan half done and lots of new parts.

Biggest hiccup I am currently having is finding a place near me that will blast it.  Closest I have found is a couple hours drive one way.  I saw somewhere that Franz or John mentioned the dustless blasting wasn’t that great.

I know some of you will probably think painting an offroad car is dumb.  I just figure if I am sinking money into this many new parts and time I should make it look better than it does now.

    Any suggestions or recommendations?

I also want to build a roof rack for this before it gets painted or otherwise.  What kind of tubing bender and material do you use Franz for your custom rack builds I have seen in the past?

My daughter is never getting this car. She has her 2001 Nissan my parents gave her that I have dubbed the shit box (3 of the 4 windows don’t roll down among other things 😂).

My brother was wanting to sell the last VW he owns. He has had it for over a decade and it hasn’t run in at least 8 or 9 years. Just sat in his garage. So we came to a deal on it. I honestly have no clue if I can fit in it. I have never sat in it. I have never owned a low light so I figured what the hell, worst case I can sell it. I really wanted the Randar wheels too.

Christmas tree farming is probably a dumb idea but if it cuts my property taxes down substantially and once they hit maturity I can make a couple thousand $’s a year for car parts, win win. The goal is to plant 100 trees a year. I love making more work for myself
