Ha. I feel your pain. Its hard to stay motivated on monster projects…especially after-hours and on the weekends. I keep dreaming of being done and all the fun I’m going to have.
Your shop looks sweet too.I hear you, my shop is about an hour from where I live currently so factor in a 10 hour work day, two hour round trip to the shop and 3-4 hours a night and I get that “what the hell did you do last night” look from everyone at work when I have had a late night with the bus!!
My biggest motivator by far has been tackling one project at a time rather than look at it as a whole. I did get gnarly two weekends ago and literally just cut every bondo’d or rusty panel out of it that I could find. It was satisfying realizing there was no more rust in my truck! (A bunch of holes though lol) I’m right there with you dreaming, I know the work that’s going into this will be worth it though!
My gut says cut the whole floor out and weld in new but it’s so clean and rust free against the bulkhead I just can’t bring myself to do it. I may bite the bullet and get a Gerson floor then use the rear half behind the separation panel so it’s clean. I have the tank mounts from Gerson already, yes. I went into this truck saying I wasn’t going to make it pretty just get it solid, spray it with some flat green and drive the piss out of it but I got carried away. They get less and less fun the more they sit on the lift 😆
