Finished tear down today. Stripped roof and nose both are super nice and straight. Have not found any body filler yet.
We will build it if it comes.PeteParticipantMarch 14, 2018 at 6:37 pmPost count: 947
Are any surprises expected on this one? It looks really solid.Pat KKeymasterMarch 15, 2018 at 6:39 pmPost count: 1648
^^ No surprises yet…..but…the blast booth will tell all.
Finished stripping outside of shell to day.
Few areas that will need some rust repair. Lower dog legs.
Long side outer rocker. Inner rocker to be determined.
Started dissecting cargo door rocker. Will need a new rear pass jack point, a section of cargo floor, inner/outer rocker, lower pass side rear rocker, top hat section, and some other patches in the front wheel well area.
Time for a cold one.
We will build it if it comes.1965BusParticipantMarch 16, 2018 at 1:02 pmPost count: 11

So, I was joking about this going back into a Panel! Bob, what are Your plans for this restoration???!!!?!?!! 🙂ryans65ParticipantMarch 18, 2018 at 7:06 pmPost count: 115
When you strip a bus like what is your tool of choice? Obviously a wizz wheel of some sort but what diameter discs and grit are you using?Pat KKeymasterMarch 19, 2018 at 8:53 amPost count: 1648
I like the 7″ angle sander with 8″36 grit paper. Low speed and lean into pretty good. High speed will wear out the paper really fast and heat up the panel.

time to get this rig stripped the rest of the way and move into some metal work! 😎Pat KKeymasterMarch 26, 2018 at 7:21 pmPost count: 1648
Fully disassembled removables today. Every thing came apart smoothly. Nothing pic worthy.
Note worthy though is how dry and straight this bus is. Metal order going in tomorrow to Wolfsburg West.
We will build it if it comes.WillyModeratorMarch 27, 2018 at 11:00 amPost count: 1238

I seen a pretty large pile of dirt on the floor as I walked past yesterday. Funny how much falls out of a “clean bus” when the rockers get cut openPat KKeymasterApril 5, 2018 at 4:12 amPost count: 1648
Started on the drivers side. Dissected out the junk. Outer rocker was toast, jack point also. Only lost a small section the inner rocker and a top hat.
Patched up the drivers dogleg, lower door seal channel and section of the bulk head so far.

Fit and burned in inner rocker section this morning. Outer fit and tacked in. Should have rust repair along drivers side finished up tomorrow except for a small section of cargo floor.
We will build it if it comes.
