in reply to: Bob’s 65′ camper #16793About to do the seats in my single, does he use the horsehair mat over the springs or what looks like foam on the drivers side and no horsehair? I was going to put a single layer of burlap on the springs then the horsehair then the seat cover… is that the correct way?

tore my seat down
Then I fixed this stupid hole in the fender well and the jack point… maybe should have put a jack point in it but the rest of it seems pretty solid
in reply to: Where do I go from here with my 65 single? #15802Hahaha, I think I will work on getting the truck where I want it then drag it out there…. it will make for some great stories for sure! I will need to start prepping up my truck, camper, dirtbike (dingy) and trailer. Road trips are my favorite!
a Colorado Vacation and your truck getting some love and getting to hang out at KCW!!!! Sounds like a good time to me..
Lets wait till I get rid of WILBUR!!!!!!

in reply to: Where do I go from here with my 65 single? #15764Definitely sucks…. thats the truth! I have a new found appreciation for guys like you that make it not just your job but your craft to do this kind of work day in and day out. I have tried to take the time and do it right and if I don’t like it I have cut it out and started over. I’ve only ever done mechanical work on the cars I have owned but I set out to teach myself something new and learned a lot and failed a lot.
I have a friend that will epoxy prime it for me but doesn’t have the shop capacity to take it in and finish it.
JJ- After these last few metal areas I am finishing I will give some serious thought to taking it completely down to metal myself like you are saying with the DA. I think with a few full weekends I will see some light at the end of the tunnel!!
I rolled it outside a few weeks back and stared at it, was nice to see it on the ground for a change.
Gates are kinda rusty/ pinholed/ bondo’d over… forgot about those damn things. HA
Building cars sucks. You have to keep taking steps. Iโd do what JJ is saying and hit it with some tinted sealer. You can always make paint nicer. Maybe sandblast it first since you are at that stage?
in reply to: Where do I go from here with my 65 single? #15747Thanks for the input, I’m at that stage where my progress has slowed down and I need a push (kick in the ass) to get back at it haha
