in reply to: Where do I go from here with my 65 single? #17597
this has escalated into a partial floor replacement now, that’s two expensive panels to fix the last 15″ or so of this floor! the tar or whatever was there really wrecked the metal under the tank…..
I reluctantly drilled the spot welds for the separation panel and went to work. 🙁

in reply to: Where do I go from here with my 65 single? #17426ha!
Something like…
Hang doors, install seats … done!
The good news is that when you are done with metal and paint work; assembly on a single cab is a breeze.

in reply to: Where do I go from here with my 65 single? #17288I *think* I just ordered my last piece of sheetmetal, the complete C pillar. After I tore the drivers long side off it appeared to be bent inwards slightly. Will be nice to have a fresh piece in there. Can’t wait to get this panel on and give the welder a rest!

in reply to: Where do I go from here with my 65 single? #17076took a heat gun to this tar mess in my fuel tank area. … i guess at some point someone thought it would be a good idea to stick some sort of tar backed plastic stuff under the tank and it just trapped water and debris in the ribs of the treasure chest floor where they didn’t stick the tar down good enough…. what a mess…. i have some floor sections coming to hopefully fix all this…. not going to be perfect but it will be better than this!!! i’m thinking a karosene solution will get rid of the rest of the tar
in reply to: Where do I go from here with my 65 single? #17059will do, do you usually quench with air or water?
Be careful welding the side and supports on. Go slow, jump around and cool the welds.

in reply to: Where do I go from here with my 65 single? #17052how do you practice with water? do you spray on something that lets the water soak in so you can see your overlaps?
in reply to: Where do I go from here with my 65 single? #17017I’m trying! Should have some more work done this weekend. Need to fix the drivers wheel well splash panel thing and try to get this tar type stuff off the inside of the treasure chest that someone thought was a good idea to smear everywhere.
Pin the meantime keep cranking on your adult sized truck so I have some inspiration

in reply to: Where do I go from here with my 65 single? #17009haha! i had to, just didn’t sit right with me leaving that warped panel on. i’m going to clean up a few things “while i’m in there”
So you went and did it, you cut the whole side off. lol Nice work man! I have the same covers in my bus. I used the horse hair pads but I should have put some batting material around the back and side tubes.
