Yeh.  I am pretty certain that I will sell this.    But I don’t want to advertise it since its a pain in the ass dealing with tire-kickers.    I know there is a crazy market for these cars.  I am assuming someone will call me and we will work a deal.  If not, this fall I will bring it out to Pebble Beach, drink some beer and someone will come around and buy it.  In the meantime, I will just cruise it around.

I ran out of welding gas or I would have fixed that seat yesterday.  I hate running out of gas.    So, I opted to change oil.   While under the car, I notice that the header is cheesy and all full of holes.  Maybe I should buy a new exhaust for this thing.

Seat repair done. Only need to refit one more trim piece, replace exhaust and reinstall interior door handles.

All the little things that add up to a big difference, great that you have it running and driving.

    Nice work

Nice work on the seat. Do you need me to send a few of those little pins to hold the inner door handles on?

Thanks, but I decided to overpay for them from Stoddards.  I also bought a new exhaust and trim mounting hardware.   Porsche trim hardware is difficult to install…..but, I’m having fun with this.    My wife asked me why I don’t drive the car around.    I am actually scared to drive this…….don’t want to screw it up……….I will probably will post this on some California PCA classified site or 356 registry soon to show for sale.  If someone is interested in a quick, fairly priced sale, just give me an email.   Thanks.

I know somebody with Gooding & Company connection. Maybe it would be fun to Auction? JJ has been talking about doing the swivel seat too.

Ha.  Too much to risk on this thing.   I think I can find a buyer and sell it for $20k less than its current value and turn this pretty quickly.    A running, driving, mechanical sound, numbers matching (except engine) 55 speedster.  Not many of these around – not to mention owned by a guy who doesn’t mind to sell it for less than its value assuming its a quick easy turn.   But you never know…..I’m still amazed John has that swivel.

As a Porsche junkie I’d love to know a little more about the cars story, you can be as vague as you want I just find stuff like that really fascinating. Aren’t too many guys these days casually picking up pre-A speedsters!!

Ha.    We never reveal our secrets………I have been attended “bubba’s school of vw bus discoveries”.  Its been very helpful.     The history of this car is very boring.

    Trade for a Unimog?:)

I like the couple dings and scratches, proves it’s real.

I got to agree with you though, given the value of it I wouldn’t be comfortable driving, keeping it. Money spoils everything.

cooker vw brought a 21 window to Barret Jackson and it ran through yesterday he posted on instagram”lost my ass on the mother f**%er”

he deleted the post, i think auctions are such a crap shoot, with that said i think the Porsche would do very well there. i would be nervous about the swivel seat

What a mess.  I saw the sold price on the BJ site last night at $88k, but that must have included the buyers premium.

The Cookers bus was very well done, but I wonder if it would have done any better at stock height and whitewalls.  This turd sold for over $150k a few months ago, and it’s a disaster:

i think colour has to factor in to it a blue one right before his went for $92,000 and he posted uh oh or something similar

the auction takes 8% i believe as well so he really is looking at 73,000 or so

the Brazilian 1975 23 window went for 55k though:)
