in reply to: VW’s at the springs 2019 #37547
Really hoping to make the trek to a show out that way, we constantly talk about a kcw/triple js reunion, maybe this is the spot, having joshs bus done is a game changer.
I’ll do my part to support this and Venmo Josh a pile of $$ for his bus so you guys can bring it stateside for me, just like old times. 🙂 🙂 🙂
in reply to: VW Drag Night 2019 #37444Nice photos! This made me smile…I count 4 heads looking in there. 😁
in reply to: Lets talk about WHEELS. #37352I saw someone else do something similar to Andy recently, but with less paint. They taped/sealed up the backside of the wheel face, then poured the black paint on the front side. Once the desired level was reached the paint was drained. Can’t recall who did that.

in reply to: Doghouse cooler seals #37339Well that sucks. When you’re ready to tackle it again put some UV dye in your oil, then run it with the shroud off and use a black light to pinpoint the leak source. Hope it’s not a crack.
in reply to: Doghouse cooler seals #37329Pete pete Pete I ain’t afraid to harp on a engine that leaks a little oil…if your VW ain’t leaking it’s probably out of oil haha Our local dealer Victoria Volkswagen (formerly speedwayVw) is great, Chris use to work at BowWow and now runs a vintage division of parts for us locals it’s rad. My back is all fucked, Johnny and his kids came down to lend hands, had the motor out and back in in an hour sealed back up with the correct seals….me passing tools, thx boys.
You’re preaching to the choir on the “leaks a little oil” bit….I’ve come to accept that a certain amount of oil “vapor” will always be present. If the dipstick level isn’t dropping with regular use, then…..
🙂 🙂
Engine out, shroud pulled, sealed, and back in all in one hour is impressive. Nice job Josh/Johnny!
in reply to: Doghouse cooler seals #37318Wait…in the three hours that passed since you had the Q&A sesh about these seals and a stripped down engine….how’d you get a picture of the bus, at the dealership, with seals in hand?
in reply to: 11.90 is still going strong! #37237Pete I was there but didn’t see your Ghia.
Sorry we didn’t cross paths. I got there at 10:30, and left a little before 5. Ghia was over in the “car show” area, I spent most of the time by the staging lights watching the races.
in reply to: 11.90 is still going strong! #37212Braaaaaapp!!!!!
in reply to: KCW randomness #37147^^That’s great! Those kids will remember hitting the drive-in in that bus for the rest of their lives.
in reply to: Anyone Autocross? #37101No experience with it. I followed the Samba thread below about an autocross ’58 beetle until the guy sold the car. Looked like a fun endeavor.
Over the course of the thread he eventually went Subaru powered, and he seized two engines that were starved for oil when cornering. I think he made a baffle or something for the shortened oil pan to fix the problem. You can check it out here if you wish:

in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #36737Oh, and speaking of fuel line….I’d love the hear the KCW feedback on it….I bought a length of this to try out on the next line replacement. German made, ethanol compliant, and braided.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #36734This DC turned out soooo nice! Congrats Mike and KCW!
