Looks good. It’s gonna be nice to have a deck lid that fits well and a stay that will hold it open and not let it crack me in the back of the head.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #28395I’ve been wondering from the start if y’all were going to recommend replacing that corner. I’m cool with replacing it if you guys think that’s the better route.
What was the hole in the dash? I thought the dash was intact, especially because there wasn’t even a radio in the truck. As long as you are in the cab, look up. Did you notice, someone punched a hole in the fresh air box to screw in a non-VW mirror. Can you patch that as well?

in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #28340Hopefully there’s lots of good parts to use…..
We can hope! It ran well before I pulled it. Shipper estimates it’ll be there on the 3rd.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #28314Looks good guys. I dropped the motor off at a shipper today (I gave them the shop number as contact info). Not yet sure when it will arrive.
The shroud and alt are attached. The heater boxes are secured to the pallet, but separated from the motor. I removed the carb and intake manifold as they won’t be needed. I’m going to box up the lower tins tomorrow and send. They may not be worth saving, but you guys can tell me.
Wait until you see the zebra striped tins, they are pretty amazing…not! Oh and I apologize in advance for the moving wrap, I got carried away. Nothing a razor blade can’t make short work of.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #28234Gerson’s parts, the amazing appreciation in the prices of buses, and skilled folks like the KCW Krew, have saved a lot of buses from the scrap heap.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #28120I know I say it everyday, but the progress is amazing! What’s left of the funky green metal? Front floor, back floor, rear corner, d-pillar, front load bed, and load bed separation panel?
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #28090Mike has to be super stoked following this thread!
You have no idea! I have the KCW website up in the background on my work laptop all day…refresh, refresh, refresh.
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #28040Looking good!
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #27937Great work!
Looks like some dumbass tried to jimmy the back door latch at some point in crew cab’s history. Of the 3 doors on that rig to break into, that would be most difficult. The other 2 would open if you go around a corner too fast 😎
in reply to: Mikes Dual Cab #27802Un-frikin-believable! The speed and skill that you guys work at is truly amazing. The updates are great.

My kids have those advent calendars that they get to open a little window with chocolate every day in December. They get so excited to pop it open each day and see the surprise treat. This site and your updates is like the same thing for the big kid (me). I’ll hold my breath for pictures of today’s progress 😎

Nice! It’s been fun watching Juan’s Ghia get purdied up, but it’ll be great to see metal getting added and sparks flying on my truck. 😎
