We can hope!  It ran well before I pulled it.  Shipper estimates it’ll be there on the 3rd.

^^ Chris will get it torn down and ready for shipping to Painters as soon as it arrives.

I pulled a halfdaybob on Mon. Got the front floor fit and half way burned in. 4D4C8335-B855-4FEE-A2E2-9272A0EBC727CB530A8F-4A44-4B02-AF8C-5ABA44D92D88

Finished it up yesterday, along with the driver fender well/bulk head patches.268ACB59-CD95-4DA6-86D8-49D8C6515310457C988A-209C-4D75-9719-5E54A95D6735

Grabbed the corner and pieces to start on this morning.

Those vents are gonna get in the way of the taillights in that setup.

    Hmmmmm…

That could be cool. Tuck corners with the vents in the back.

JJ sent an email off the Gerson, hopefully we’ll see the correct one soon.

Knocked out a couple of small patches this morning. Dash.A4AB324C-FD48-4A18-8999-10875739D726E4861128-9C31-4ABB-9801-FB974D126326

So I started looking at the driver side d-pillar area . Apron mount looked a little twisted.

That’s because it was bolted together. F9EE30AF-BBAC-4F32-98CC-40C85FA9C26B2761B36F-758B-4C1E-B44F-EFF487E120F1

All of the spot welds must have popped loose in the same accident that smashed the pass side d-pillar. You can see the gap between the d-pillar support triangle and the frame once I removed the bolt.B4A18242-B7C7-403F-A035-CE3ACBE3A1B2

Driver side tray is is nice shape. 3BAB5EF7-0F6D-4B3A-94F5-E06E2986BE2E

This corner has seen much better days though. The tail light patch is junk, has to be redone. That’s about 2ft of welding!! Going to be  faster, better, smarter to just replace the whole thing.

What do you think Mike? We already have the correct corner.9FB21803-BB6F-4DDC-8E60-D2D863D053BC

I’ve been wondering from the start if y’all were going to recommend replacing that corner.  I’m cool with replacing it if you guys think that’s the better route.

What was the hole in the dash?  I thought the dash was intact, especially because there wasn’t even a radio in the truck.  As long as you are in the cab, look up.  Did you notice, someone punched a hole in the fresh air box to screw in a non-VW mirror.  Can you patch that as well?

Cool. Well get the fresh one on there. I did not see that hole but I will get it patched up.

Drivers side frame/apron mount/ bat tray are all back together. 53FC6D88-ABD9-46DD-BF03-EEF6066FA0779AFA0D7C-7C74-4CFA-9ECE-A1409C65D329

    No more gap. EEA022F4-B445-41EC-82F7-C2AB4447DA5B

Also got the pass d-pillar fit and burned in.279253BF-DD8A-4D4F-ACA0-64E59E6E4476CBA4D048-6AF8-447E-9A68-114F72074A8E19020E1D-CF92-47D5-B279-ADE504423ED508C2848A-3F56-4CB1-B947-FD0A37815949

Looks good.  It’s gonna be nice to have a deck lid that fits well and a stay that will hold it open and not let it crack me in the back of the head.

Started on the left rear this morning. Got everything dissected. Had to make up one  small path for the inner structure.B80254A4-C640-4304-8BC1-1BEBFB99EC5F

Mud flap was also broken loose. A4322BEB-EBF0-4171-AB22-53BBB3CAF89D

First fit is looking good.  0AA68A65-BE64-4432-9613-CC66C31B29A47568930C-E866-4402-B132-F33F686FB644

That looks way better, and easier, than jackin’ around with the other corner with the messy patch and dings and dents.

I loaded the rest of the tins up in box and sent’em via USPS.  I don’t know if they are worth the cost of sending, but you can let me know.

I don’t know how OG the tins are.  The shroud looks like a puma (the short square kind).  Here’s the motor when I removed it, right before trailering the truck your direction.UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_10c5

I’m ready for the slings and arrows to fly on my color choice… 🙂

I do like L31, but want to go with L21 Perl Grau.  The truck was originally L345, but I don’t think the light grey has enough pigment to show of the lines of the truck and the expert body work you guys have done.  Perl Grau has a commercial look, but also has color to it (like Dove Blue 🙂 ).  The bumpers, wheels, emblem will be the stock white (silver white???).  Similar to these rides, but with the white bumpers, wheels, and emblem…Grey Bus

That’s a cool color! Black emblem and wheels would be cool too….
