The drivers door is correct with the recess. The passenger door is post barndoor (3/55) to Dec 60 (early ’61).
This same door conundrum happened to me on an OG paint ’61 23 window that had one recess and one flat front door handle. The bus had been hit at some point and they replaced the original door with an OG paint flat door handle.
Short day for me yesterday – finished the cargo door, nice and smoooooth 👌🏻
getting on the driver door today! And Coles brother is checking the warehouse today for the other door 👍🏻
I looked in the pile yesterday… we don’t have any.. hardly any bus doors left at all!
Audreys knocking out that body work!!! 😎 Soo cool to see her do something I do.. She’s good at it… I always heard girls were great for body and paint with their smooth touch… 😎
I’ve been welding shit up… randomn extra holes here and there extra seat belt holes… when a 62 has it’s own factory holes.. Finished up LOTS of things the last shop got 90% done.. Front floor edges and what not… anyway.. Doing my thing!!!
Parts will all be done today… except that door we are missing… 😎 😎 😎 Man that sucks… and I don’t have one!!! Thinking about trying a Brand new gerson door!!! ??? We will be on the shell next week!!! If I can stay at it, I bet we have that shell in primer by next friday…. 😎 😎 This rig will be painted in just a few weeks from now… 😎
Never make someone a priority, that makes You and Option. 🤔🤔🤔🥲
Parts have arrived.
More parts ordered. We’ve been wanting to try these out. Fingers crossed they fit awesome.
It’s happening in the dirty shop today!
We will build it if it comes.
Hey Audrey!
This all makes me so happy! It’s great to see your hands on it as well!
And JJ! Beautiful work man! Look at the new dogleg! Yesss!
Great day yesterday. Gott the B pillar all dialed in again, welded some on the inner B pillar and some small spots on the A…. Then fit that dog leg and welded it in!!!! Gonna grind and throw a door on right now! Should go quick!!! I hope Cole is ready… Sounds like Tom is…
Wolfsburgwest interior??
Yeah, I’m ready! (The bank account may disagree.) And I don’t know which interior kit would be the best choice. For stock and comfort… definitely taking suggestions there as well! I do have a lot of love for Colorado!
Shameless self promotion, but I’d like to think you could do no better than a set of Clara’s panels. Partial set pictured above.
Deutsch Polster would be a good consideration for the seat covers, especially if you want sewn pleats. They also do a spare tire cover, headliner kit, and sunroof cover.
Oooo panels by Clara are very nice 👌🏻😏 Hi Greg!
Another productive day yesterday!
evolution of metal/body worked driver door below…+many more pins after those
First spread
second spread 👌🏻
just gotta block it once more and scotch brite it and it’s ready for poly too!JJ did lots of patching and welding yesterday! And got a good start on the cargo door repair As soon as the metal came in from Wolfsburg West 👍🏻
Damn this bus is progressing quickly
Slipped in the rollover jug and flipped it this morning.
Riley is tapping/checking all of the sunroof nut plates. Looks like there’s one missing and at least one with a broken off bolt.
We will build it if it comes.

Far as I know, Clara panels are the most correct nicest panels available… I am game for a Campingbox suggested interior. Someone better get on the ordering… I know when I was getting kits from Lenny, I had to order the kit damn near as soon as I started the bus to have it on time.. I don’t know what turn around times are lately though.. I heard Lenny Sold out??? is it still a lenny interior? Wolfsburg West usually gets my vote, because they usually have it in stock.
Surprised we haven’t heard a peep out of the “project manager”. I know he’s out of the country right now.. But I see he still has access to instagram, so I bet, KCW will still pull up on his phone too…. 😎 😎 😎 I bet he reads this this morning.. while enjoying some fresh coffee… by the eiffel tower or some shit… 😎
I’m gonna want a headliner in about 2-3 weeks, assuming KCW is doing the interior, glass, wiring stuff like that. 😎

Those are nice! I didn’t know Clara had moved beyond commercial panels.
Lenny has retired. He sold the website and phone number to Morrie who is located in Oregon. I have been to their shop and like Morrie. Lenny’s crew did not make the move.
Clara and I have been making microbus panel sets for years. She does not advertise much. The two of us are always busy. Occasionally I post on Instagram.
If the owner wants a quote for the part we make or to place an order encourage him to email me at campingbox@yahoo.com – message me through Instagram (westfalia_campingbox) or give me a call (phone number is listed on any of my samba ads). If he wants to avoid holding you up I’d suggest he reach out today. I make this stuff to order. I can put him in touch with Deutsch Polster regarding the covers. Corey often stocks the covers.
Since you are fairly familiar with the WCCR products and the TMI (WW) products I know you will be happy with our quality and with the Deutsch Polster covers. We are both a little more expensive than the other options but the quality is there.
Dirty shops in full swing today!
JJs still finding broken bolts and busted nut plates.
AJ is working dents out of the front cargo door.
Riley’s fitting and prepping belly pans.
Dissected two nut plates on the ragtop.
New square nuts for the nut plates also.
We will build it if it comes.
Worked on getting the belly pans fit today.
Ended up punching holes all along the belly pans instead of drilling, so my arms are very tired 😅JJ got those welded in.
Finished my day out by sanding the roof of the bus and finding the dents in the roof. Just started pulling those out before I ended my day. -
