Already on bodywork! This is going to be ready for Cole to assemble in no time.
I heard that the transaxle didn’t look very good after disassembly.
John is probably glad it doesn’t require a frame table and welding two halves back together. This one will be easy
Great day yesterday. Gott the B pillar all dialed in again, welded some on the inner B pillar and some small spots on the A…. Then fit that dog leg and welded it in!!!! Gonna grind and throw a door on right now!
Should go quick!!! I hope Cole is ready… Sounds like Tom is… 😎 Wolfsburgwest interior??
You guys use Sewfine for anything? Colorado business…
I had positive results with my T34 sunroof headliner I got from them, pretty custom with a zipper to get to the electric motor and all. They were responsive to my requests and custom needs based on pictures. And they did some real nice detail on some squareweave binding, I spent more on 2 VW carpet sets that it costs to have an entire mobile home recarpeted, including labor!
We haven’t used them in a long time, but know many who have and all love em!!! I used them a few times!! May have to go back to using them! I heard Lenny sold his shop… now it’s gonna be called silver lining’s or something like that?? not sure… heard it at shasta..
I met my goals, there is a beautiful hanging drivers door over a new Dog leg!!! Also filled the plug hole behind the B pillar. Also got to straightening out the hammered over wheel wells.. Next… I want to do some additional welding around the new cargo door rocker and replace the battery mount stud in the engine bay… also funny area in drivers door jamb seal area rut, one extra hole in the dash….. some belly pans…. which are on order from Gerson!!!
Audrey is knocking out parts…. 😎
Safari’s?? Middle seat, there are only mounts for a full width, your walkthrough would have come with a 2/3 so you could walk all the way to the back seat without getting out… What middle seat do you have?
I vote for slightly lowered, cool wheels and tires, and a torque monster engine.
I’ve used Sewfine many times over the years. Highly recommended.

That sounds pretty good to me too…. Big engine, 3.88 trans.. Slightly lowered, straight axle, disc brakes, wheels, A1 exhaust..
I think I might finish up any welding needed today.. besides the metal we ordered… like belly pans and that one cargo door lower section.
Audrey is kicking butt on body work…. she picked this shit up fast… 😎
Good day yesterday 👍🏻 Got the hatch just about ready for poly and then moved to the left/rear cargo door!
Just a couple dents to pull out…
JJ taught me how to use the 8inch mechanical DA.. got some power behind it!! I think he called it the mud destroyer or something like that..??😅
Just a few more spots to address then this one’s about ready for poly too👌🏻
That’s a lot of bondo dust!! Good… means I only left a thin layer on there 🤞🏻moving to driver and passenger doors today 👍🏻 This project is going to fly by!! The parts and bus are sooooooo clean compared to the Shorty 😂😂
Ok… so should I start working on the right door or the wrong door? 😅 ooops…
Wait, the right door is the wrong door and the left door is the right door?!?!??!? This is confusing! Who’s on First???🤔😀
55-61 is a flat door.
62-64 is the recessed door handle. The door mech is specific to the year of the door too.
Looked up the VIN and this bus is a March 1962 bus. So the indention door is the correct one 👌🏻 I’m about to go on the lot to find a matching one 🤞🏻
62 is a one-year bus body with thick doglegs, and flat rear wheel wells like an earlier bus.
But later tail lights and fried egg style turn signals on the nose… 63 has thin doglegs and ribbed rear fender wells. 64 is the start of the wider hatch.
Cole is going to check the parts stash today to see if there is a correct door.
