Turn on just the acetylene and deposit soot on the part of the panel you want to bend.  Add oxygen for a neutral flame and burn off all of the soot. That will leave the panel annealed.  It should be soft as butter after that.  I’d use a large tip or even a cutting head since it’s so thick.

Thanks Mike! I was hoping someone would chime in.

Tried the soot on the back side. Never got hot enough for it to burn off.  Larger tip is probably the key. Heat up that area a lot quicker. D59A62D6-7DE0-4036-A5EF-D18F19A8118C

Thanks MikeK!  Couple clamps and the cutting torch did the job to get the rear skid bent into shape.33459B26-01D5-4948-A957-E785736B71947C932FC0-07C8-468D-B4B8-7D8C574675A21A643E3C-C5ED-4ABE-889F-DD90FEBB0854

Glad it worked out. It’s amazing his soft AL gets after annealing.

Almost fell off the page. Not good!

Drilled a few holes to cut weight out of the light bar mount. Just about ready to weld in. F2E5A71A-1B09-47EB-A987-D690FF85E73E7FF21370-BFD3-4212-91AF-E0A98BD85ADE59AA413E-539B-423B-85F3-14E018A13521A4461201-FEFC-46D4-B290-F18C9D44007B
