Great pics Pat!!!!!!!! Nice work Riley!
I love going on adventures in our bus!!!
Riley and I were back at it this morning. bending and fitting longitudinal‘s. Thank for all the help Mr.
Coped driver side sleeves to lower beam tube and rear torsion. Burning in the first piece of tube now!!!
We will build it if it comes.
Yesterday we also shimmed the pan to level on the jack stands, then used a laser level to check if it was twisted at all.
Everything measured titty on a Ritty. Burned in the pan head conversion slowly moving around to spread the heat evenly.
Front beam caster set at 4°.
We will build it if it comes.
Pat, what kind of welder are you using on the cast torsion tubes?

I’ve never had any issues welding to the torsion. Crank the heat up and let it ride.
NASCSR approved!!!

Awesome work Pat! I wonder how sweet my hill climb car would handle if I had the skills and patience you have…
It’s not flux core is it? I showed a friend a pic and he thought it was.

Looking sweet Pat!!! I can’t wait till all our cars are track ready!!!
Riley and I put some time in on this yesterday.
Got a deal on a donor trans from local Matt. Thanks! Cleaned the crusty off the outside yesterday. It looked like the starter before.
Riley prepped frame horn seams for welding.
Started fitting the torsion adjuster.
CHOP IT!! Fuck stock!!
Finished fitting adjuster this morning. Ready to tack in.
We will build it if it comes.
Looks good Pat. Is that center adjuster worth the effort?
i got a bus trans in my baja, With the tall tires the gearing is good. With 3×3 arms, it uses stock baywindow axles.Andy…..Stock torsion housing are known to crack or strip out under hard use. Never had one before. Will be nice for suspension setup.
Finished welding in the torsion adjuster yesterday. Had to open up the bottom side more to get it welded all the way around.
Boxed around the adjusters for protection.
Some places are hard to reach.
Welded trans horn seams in small sections all the way around until solid.
Mocked up trans today. Had to modify the mid mount. Welded on studs for the mid strap.
We will build it if it comes.
Riley and I started on the shell yesterday.
Riley cut out junk on the drivers side rear quarter where needed and started fitting a patch panel section.
l chopped the front end to fit a new one piece fiberglass front end I don’t have yet.
Also a couple of rusty spots on the inner b pillars and front bulkhead.
Pulled the doors also. Doooooh!!!!
We will build it if it comes.
