Looking great Jeff… and keeping them in tip top shape!!! It’s more fun to tinker on something like the DC than it is to dig into a big project!volksaddictParticipantJanuary 14, 2019 at 7:36 amPost count: 647
Yeah, tinker. One thing leads to another. 1 rear axle seal, 1 wheel cyl leaking = new brakes and seals in the rear this week. 10 yo axle boots won’t cinch up enough to stop leaking, ordered them too. Never liked the feel of the clutch in this truck, might as well pull the motor and address that…Pat KKeymasterJanuary 14, 2019 at 8:22 amPost count: 1513

Love that truckvolksaddictParticipantJanuary 22, 2019 at 8:29 amPost count: 647
This thread is more about my truck right now than the DDWT, but I’ll get back to it soon.
Spent a lot of time cleaning, degreasing, de-rusting the front suspension and rgb’s. Everything was caked with gook and rust underneath, from before I ever owned it. Pulled all the brakes, mostly so I could blast the backing plates, they got black epoxy primer and rustoleum, stopped short of yanking the beam and trans. Gave them a good cleaning and spray job on the truck.
Painted the repair spots too 🙂mtnbusParticipantJanuary 22, 2019 at 11:25 amPost count: 1232
Looks awesome Jeff ! The truck and the snow!
gotta catch up. Been too longvolksaddictParticipantJanuary 29, 2019 at 7:46 amPost count: 647
Been working on my wt seats for the 58. They are fucked but orig and all I’ve got. I rebuilt the springs a while back and left these frames for last.
Not much to work with. If this was KCW I’d build some new ones but it’s not and I don’t have a bender. I’ve been staring at this pile of crap for a while, yesterday I decided to do something with it. A bay window back seat lost it’s life to the cause.
I’ll have more time into these 2 front seat frames than it would take to respray a beetle but gotta have something to sit on…volksaddictParticipantJanuary 31, 2019 at 7:35 amPost count: 647
My newest project arrived yesterday morning 🙂volksaddictParticipantFebruary 3, 2019 at 6:42 amPost count: 647
Seat frames are about done! So glad to be over that!
I would like to get Doug to cover these, is that possible? Next time someone’s heading North Hit me up!
I even welded back on the finger biter pointy things on the back backside, although I bet half of them break off at my weld since I just added the pointy part. Does Doug even need the pointy things?FranzKeymasterFebruary 3, 2019 at 7:50 amPost count: 3797
I sure Doug could stitch something up. And no, he hates those finger poker things…..no need for them.volksaddictParticipantMay 12, 2019 at 8:49 amPost count: 647
I’m getting around to this one again… soon.
60 single pos is going away so I’ll put my random crap in here now.
I did a little work on my welding cart. This thing is so cool. I pulled it from my friend’s scrap pile some years ago, he laughed cause he pulled it from my next door neighbor’s scrap pile 30+ years before. This thing has been in my neighborhood for 80+ years I think. It looks like it was braized together from old 3/4″ iron pipe that was frozen waay back. All brazed together no welding till now. 1 wheel was froze up tight, it had been rolling on the broken brazing on the axle for years. Took weeks of penetrant to free it, spins like it’s on bearings now.1 spoke was missing, looks like they hammered them out of who knows what, I used the best think I had lying around, a recycled survey monument. So much patina!I got this cool Smiths torch from another friend’s estate sale 🙁 anybody know anything about these?
