Still moving forward, slower with the cooler weather. Little stuff, cleaning 36hp tin and sorting junk – threw away 2 36 cases now dammit, I have guts for 2 of ’em but no more empty cases, don’t want to take any more apart just for a case. Might be rethinking that route…
Laying tile at my own house for a change and keeping the cows in water and food…mtnbusParticipantNovember 29, 2018 at 7:02 amPost count: 1232

No, steady and even, keep moving forward, Don’t need change.
Not really, just enough to be a hazard for the cows so it’s closed off.
Ordered splash pans from Gerson on Monday morning, got them Tuesday afternoon. How did he do that?John JonesKeymasterDecember 12, 2018 at 6:39 amPost count: 7082volksaddictParticipantDecember 18, 2018 at 8:11 amPost count: 647
Got my neighbor to turn these sub hatch hinge pins on his lathe, looks like it’s warming up enough to get a run of parts painted today, then I can mount the lid, yea.John JonesKeymasterJanuary 9, 2019 at 3:13 pmPost count: 7082
Jeff… I know your doing shit.. whats going on!!!!volksaddictParticipantJanuary 10, 2019 at 6:42 amPost count: 647
I’m still here 🙂 Things go slower in the cold, and there’s snow to plow now, yea, wish there was tons more!!
Thanks Franz, the hinges came out nice. then I had to radius the tops with a grinder to fit the hatch hinge, aargh, that stuff never happens at KCW… But the hatch top is all attached now. Looking for sub hatch latch hardware that looks similar to factory Westy, thought there would be something similar in marine hardware online but haven’t found anything yet. Still need to put together a motor – getting closer to back on that…
My steering box on the Dcab was leaking buckets, had been since I had it most of 10 years ago, so since it was in the shop out of the weather I put it on the lift and pulled the box. Never took one of those apart before but it looks good inside and a new seal is on the way.
Sooo, while it was sitting on the lift I scraped all the original rock hard goo off the front beam, cleaned up the underside. That thing was caked! But that means it had been serviced all it’s life, all the zerks work and everything is tight.
Sooo, the D cab is hanging out on the lift, waiting for it’s steering box seal to arrive, smiling at me and showing those cold sores it picked up during it’s time in Hawaii – I can’t help but pick at scabs even though the paint was still holding on the bubbles – one thing leads to another...
Half a lower nose patch, couple of bubble spots on the roof gutter, little cosmetic surgery. I just can’t leave well enough alone. 🙂John JonesKeymasterJanuary 10, 2019 at 9:03 amPost count: 7082
Jeff has such a cool collection!!!!volksaddictParticipantJanuary 11, 2019 at 10:24 amPost count: 647
Weekends don’t make a difference to me – I do what I want! mostly…
More rust bubble cold sores removed, no welding 🙂 There was og paint still in most of these areas, must have looked good when I redid the body.
DP 40 in white on the bare spots, just like when I painted it before. Brushed it on 🙂
The OG paint can, about 1/8 full, 10 years old. It went with the truck on it’s island adventures and came back to me, unopened. Notice the rusty lid from the beach time. The paint is thicker than tar but I bet I can use it.Pat KKeymasterJanuary 12, 2019 at 5:49 amPost count: 1513
We will build it if it comes.volksaddictParticipantJanuary 12, 2019 at 6:38 amPost count: 647
While I was picking at it I kept remembering you guys welding patches on the roof of Mike’s dual cab in the same spots, hopefully I have prevented that for a few years.
Busted up the hub of my steering wheel pulling it off, and it had lots of larger cracks all around from it’s earlier years of sitting in the sun in New Mexico so it’s getting the jb weld and bondo treatment Home spa treatment for the double cab!
