Another new guy

Postby penneyma » Mon Jun 25, 2012 7:11 pm

Figured i would introduce myself, i feel like io know everyone here since i've been lurking for years. My name is Mark, work for LKQ in Akron,Ohio. grew up in a body shop but did the whole college thing, which is an expensive way to say i have a degree in drinking and being a slacker. I own one of the "other" VW's, a 72 super, which ive managed to rebuild over the course of the past 4 years, not always the best or the right way, either. i run early 944 rear arms and brakes, front struts are modified coilovers from the same, modified welded cast control arms and ball joints, brakes, and top strut mounts...boxster wheesl..been fun, i didnt know whay the heck a super was when i picked up the car, dude said, i told you it was a strut car...eh, whatever dude, its on the trailer you got the cash....painted, rebuild engine myself, my first full car engine, a 1641 with ratio rockers...likes to leak all over m,y garage, and with a new 4 month old, ive run real short on time to even tinker with the little stuff that allows me to drive it very much, which makes me sad...im not sure i have pics on this computer of her, ill see what i can find...hope this isnt entirely too long...later!

this was after we moved to our new place, which took about a year of renovations to get to this point, and soon after we got pregnant, so i had to do a mad dash to get brakes functional and lots of little stuff done, as the only way she could go to get a new coat of paint was to be able to fdrive under her own poer, as per my father, owner of the shop. i was never allowed to drag junk to the shop, and this was no exception. very lucky to have the shop to use at my will over the years, but moreso to have a father willing to do as much as he has. When he found out his grandson was on the way, he helped me get this to a happy point so i could be a good husband and be with my wife more.

thanks!! been a long term deal, right now it sits minus column and tank, i made fathers day deal to work on my car for a few hours, half of said time spent cleaning garage, go figure. steering box junk, i was praying intermediate shaft, previous owner at some time fuckered up adjustment screw, as half of it is chipped off. cant find rebuild kit, cant afford 500 dollar rebuilt, gonna try and pull and see if standard parts or seals will get me close..we'll see...im not sure what will interchange if anything. Thats PPG water on the car, got lucky, shop was changing over, needed a test bed vehicle to work on, timing couldnt have been better. wanted a late 90s 911 color, was too pink, this is 98 mitsu i think....

first test fit of the two inch wider fenders, original steel ones very gone, prev owner had four inches of mud in each..Image
those 255's in the rear still barely fit and are overkill, but still looked awesome in my old one car and fenderless...Image
