Great day. All of the suspension is assembled. CB performance 2โ€ narrowed ย beam and dropped spindles bolted-on with caster shims.

Needle bearing beam will ride nice.

    EEE7DB99-42A7-4C98-8A3E-446C1D2C6AAD

New rubber bushings from an oem supplier.

Powdered as instructed in the Bentley manual.

    F6254555-35F1-4539-9EDA-E0990CF4786E1752DCE9-C7B1-4768-B26C-DDD93DAFA76F0D4ADAF9-D9DD-4A52-8727-FB21C04CA6B659883272-5B8E-483C-9219-3615583987C4

New cables and bowden tubes installed with plenty of grease.

    D72AF354-FF8A-4089-8A21-0ACCD13B9518

Heavy duty buckpack shift coupler is a nice piece.

    Loc-tite and safety wired.

Grey rubber transaxle mounts from a bus are the most durable aside from solid mounts. Heavy-duty fully welded clutch arm/shaft and solid brass bushing. New Sachs throw-out bearing installed with super clips. That number on the case corresponds to a September 64, if I am reading thesamba.com chart correctly? Eddie listed a 1.32 3rd gear that would normally come in a 66 transaxle….Better for acceleration than the 1.26 most other years have.

I gotta ask, do you plan to do burn-outs or drag race launch this? Because if so, we should probably put the additional strap over the top of the gear carrier housing and maybe a kafer brace.

VW/German axle boot clamps were saved from tear-down and reused.

I haven’t ordered shock yet, Do you have a brand preference Tom? Koni’s are cool because they can be adjusted. Bilstein’s can take big hits better and ride a little more firm. Usually the stock type oil shocks are pretty good on a street machine.

    Looking fantastic guys!!!

Franz, For shocks I was thinking Koni, but whatever you think gives the best ride…..I’m more of a cruiser than a racer…so not planning to race or any John Force burnouts…lol!

    Really like that shroud…..

Finished cleaning and prepping door parts this morning.

Drivers glass was an aftermarket piece. Found an acceptable one with correct logos after a couple trips out back to the boneyard.

Parts should arrive next week to start on assy. Happy New year Tom.ย 5117897C-1413-4E55-9106-D46C3FF8381C1DCD7980-147E-4EBB-8808-F986BA51ABA99FB0D4EE-5DE2-4745-A2B7-8D494293A112E06F31E6-8D1D-4EE1-BB07-58440AC24261

Iโ€™m having a fun time assembling all these nice new parts. Itโ€™s like a model kit.

I packed bearings, assembled brakes and steering today. The original steering box was in good shape, it only needed fresh grease and adjustment. New German rag joint too.
    4DF6107F-E07E-4925-BD7A-5B590613B3219CA5F699-CBE4-45FB-9F74-E6378CF6E3469CE6DFC3-0310-4E10-82BA-FF6119CB8B91

The disc brake dual circuit master cylinder is going to need a conversion tube to fit the stock single reservoir. Or there is a reservoir that mounts directly to the master cylinderโ€ฆbut itโ€™s kind of hard to access that way.

Rear brakes assembled and adjusted. Crispy new star adjusters/hardware. I filled the transaxle with oil, ready to go.

I had to get out one of the flat4 limited production chrome BRM wheels for pictures. Itโ€™s going to look sooo good.

Thanks U!ย  Yeah this is the difference between KCW – Guys that know, build, and live/love these cars vs. a shop that has a picture of a bug on their business card and claim to know what they’re doing….lol!
