So here we are a month later instead of the week later I mentioned before, damn time is flying. I plan to get the order in by the end of next week. Anyone else interested?
If you are wondering the total cost is shoot me an email at jasonsmurthwaite@gmail.com and I will let you know. They will be less than anywhere you can find one. Thanks again

in reply to: Utah Campouts – Ottinger Event 4/26/24! #35936July would be another great time to get away, especially out of the city heat! I am game for anything but was thinking of doing a trip down to the HWY 12 area in July to check out the area for a good fall trip at the end of September I am planning for the VW camping page. I am sure we can find some hot springs down that way. I cant make the Boise show as I will be rafting that next week but I have always wanted to go to it.
in reply to: Utah Campouts – Ottinger Event 4/26/24! #35523What a killer trip! This gave me even more motivation to get my bus done for trips. Its on the schedule to start in July hopefully and “Next year” will in the bay to work on it! The goal is the first trip to be BBB. More trips like this give me more ideas on what to do to it. Cant wait for the next trip.
This trip is one for the books and will be talked about for a long time, It was a perfect group, trip and everything. John put it best “Still talking about it… Still thinking about it… That was the best rally I have been on!!!!!!!!!” Thanks to Cole and Derek for the effort put into the trip.
in reply to: Utah Campouts – Ottinger Event 4/26/24! #34841I plan on being there, will be heading down after work around 6pm with the Truck. Where do you think you will be camping Friday night?
in reply to: 66 deluxe megahatch #34775Franz killed it! Made it look so easy, i was glad I joined on that recovery. Was a blast and those are the fun times and the ones you remember the most. Shit breaking and getting stuck = fun don’t ask me why but it is
I forgot I had these on my cell phone, love this picture with the ladies shooting cans.
Had a blast with you guys again! I am placing a bet that Wayne will have a baja for next year if not in the next few months. Also waiting for Badger to logo his baja. Here are a few of the pics that I have. I have 400 more but going through to get the best. We definitely missed having the Thing at the event. Thanks JJ for starting such a great thing!
Sorry for the long 30 picture post but I couldn’t narrow it down and didn’t want to leave out any of the progression action shots
Are you guys staying at the warehouse tomorrow night or enjoying a spot along the way?
What’s up, ya’ll? Split Bus owner, SST vet (X,XI,XII), and freelance journalist here. Wondering if there’ll be a Lin Ottinger Moab tour/campout this year and if so, when. I bet I could get a publication to pay my way out to cover it—I’m currently based in eastern Iowa—and I’d really like to join you guys.
Haven’t heard anymore from this guy….must not have been able to find someone to pay for his vacation
He messaged me on FB, said that he is coming out and doing a blog for Hagerty or something. I haven’t had time to talk and told him the big cruise is Saturday. I’m sure he will figure it out when he gets there.
Wish we had the Thing for this weekend to join you but unfortunately had to take the mystery motor out, its getting a sweet 1835 big valve, going to teach the lady engine building but didn’t have to get it done. I will try and find you guys and get some pictures of you hauling ass through the desert!
Update on what I was told from Sonny, he is trying to get his dump truck fixed so he can get some small gravel to put in the sand lot to help with the sand.
in reply to: Utah Campouts – Ottinger Event 4/26/24! #33157JJ the baja looks awesome! Looking forward to some rooster tails off those tires. does it have a body lift on it and Is there a name for this rig?
I know Sonny has been working on the sand lot and watering it down. It was starting to get really hard last I was down there several months ago. I am sure I will be back down to Moab before the event and I can update with the current conditions.
