in reply to: Best Bus on Earth! The BBOE! #1710
Thought I’d start a thread about the BBOE again. I was having a hard time getting it to shift into gear when the engine was running, so I played with the clutch free play and got it to at least let me put it into first or reverse. But it would grind a bit Β when going into gear and would start to move on me even with my foot pushing the clutch all the way in. I emailed JJ and he said to check the whole clutch cable for any frays and the clutch cable tube to make sure the welds hadn’t busted off or anything. I checked all that and it all seemed fine. Played with the clutch free play some more and still wasn’t right. So JJ gave the go ahead and I pulled the engine. First time doing it and man was that intimidating. JJ wrote me some good instructions though… ha! I pulled the engine and took some photos of the throw out bearing and all parts of the clutch and sent them off to JJ (Ill post those below). When we talked on the phone after that he said everything looked fine… So I was super confused but we still decided it would be best just to replace everything since I already had the engine out. I grabbed a clutch kit and new clutch cable in Salt Lake and installed it all and put the engine back in. Took me a while but I got it done! I still don’t know exactly what was wrong but now the BBOE is shifting like a dream! Im psyched it all worked out!
Thanks for all the help JJ!
Muffler dick!
in reply to: Salt lake Utah classic #1456Will there be some KCW swag at the show? I need to buy some more. I only have one shirt that I stole from my Dad…
in reply to: Using Em!!!! #1410A personal mechanic would be awesome! Especially if it was some KCW crew! π You guys are always welcome in Utah.
But until you guys move out here I am going to need to learn this stuff. Sounds like BBOE might be first… Gonna check the clutch cable one more time JJ, then I might have to take a deep dive and pull that engine. Gonna be fun!Β π―Β π―Β π
in reply to: Using Em!!!! #1373The speedster is quite a rig, very fun to drive!
Here is some more KCW love from yesterday. Took the 56 out for a spin. That thing starts up better than most modern cars! Still loud without the sub hatch, but this thing is going to rip when that interior gets dialed.Β
in reply to: Using Em!!!! #1348Kevin let Emilee and I take the 58 Speedster out for a test drive yesterday. MAN is that thing fun! We cruised up to the top of the alpine loop here in American Fork, UT. Emilee even took a turn driving and loved it. Just in time for the good Fall driving weather to start!

in reply to: 54 camping box #1224True about the BBOE. That thing RIPS offroad!! All KCW buses are meant to be driven! We will see how much Kevin lets this one out of the house… Id like to see it in Moab. Maybe we try to make JJ sweat a bit?Β πΒ πΒ π

in reply to: KCW randomness #1187Forgot to post this from a little while ago. Jumped into the 55 23 window and had to think twice about driving it to dinner… Happy to say all was well even after this sign from the other side.Β π
