Love these pics.. I gotta dig mine up!!
yea, me too!
I forgot how hammered this thing is, 6 inch beam and two notches in the rear, no fun getting on a trailer! Maybe I’ll raise this one up with skinny knobbies.
alright we have one vote for raising it and one don’t raise it 😅
can’t wait to tear these porta walls off
I vote to raise it up a bit to be able to drive without worry about what it is going to drag on or high center on.
My first Beetle: 1970 with Hydraulics (mid 90’s before airbags were a thing). I used to have a build thread for this car before the forums were updated. Not much has changed… After a fire in the late 90’s, I took this car apart, got overwhelmed, then bought a bus
My first Bus: 1966 Westy that I got in 2019. When I got the bus, it didn’t run, stop, and the front floor were rotten. Since then I rewired the whole rig, replaced all the brake components, swapped the engine (from beetle above), and replaced the front floors. Now it is a driver. I can say that everything I learned on these forums was a huge contributor to bringing this bus back to life.

This was my first VW driver.
1979 convertible in 1989.nice,
love early photo’s, faded and grainy
Damn that was a great day. Never in my wildest dreams thought I’d stumble onto a bus like this….
that’s the stuff of bus dreams!!!
Couldn’t find any pics of the first few, but the two on the right were numbers 4 & 5. The red one on the left belonged to my boss, and the place is the two man VW repair shop which was my first job after getting out of the service in 1970.
Love this thread!
Proud and Stubborn 👍🏻
