Miss you John!!! Maybe we’ll come see you soon so that I can be a liability in the shop & have no fun with you and the family π
Driving it up to Bjg Sur Wednesday or Thursday this week for its first camping trip! Iβll get some proper photos soon. I also donβt think this bus has ever been to Roosters, so maybe we can do that later this month?
woo hoo!!! Have fun on your buses first camping trip! Big Sur in your beautiful bus is going to be pretty spectacular π
Also KCW is always down for a roosters cruise ππ»
Never make somebody a priority who makes you an option.
First night in the bus was awesome! So stoked to finally be able to comfortably sleep in my own bus. We woke up just outside Big Sur at hit the road at 6 to catch the sun coming up on the water. Pretty nice first morning in the westy!
Hit the hot springs last night then slept on the edge of the bluff with the doors open. It was awesome to hear the waves all night. Plenty of awesome places to pull off the road and camp in Big Sur!
Your hubcap game is weak!
Haha, looking good Will.

I was thinking the same thing.
Still a very cool bus.
Dream come true Willy. Β ππ»

Yup, sure is! Gianni drove her grandparents around in the bus for a bit, they used to have a 1965 21 window that was the same colors.
Hubcaps are pricey though… I’ve already got over 1000 miles on this thing and 6 nights in it. Got my first paint chip out of the way so I don’t need to worry about that as much. Only issue so far is some squeaky ass brakes… Talked to Franz yesterday and think the shoes could be glazed or the springs might be touching the drums… I’ll try to tear it apart today.
Oh, also my gas mileage is SUFFERING π
I might be driving it a little too hard sometimes, but even when I’m being nice to it and cruising at a good speed on the highway I’m only getting like 15MPG if I’m lucky… My range sucks. A bigger tank is in my future if I can’t figure it out. Maybe its the hot rod heads and 48 IDFs? Any ideas?
Leaking carb needle/seat? Does it load-up at idle smoke/fuel smell? Look down the velocity stacks with a mirror just after you shut it off. You should not see any drops/dribble of fuel.
Fuel hose leak? petcock? It has been sitting for like 2 years right?!?!
Yeah, I’ll take a look around and see if there are any leaks. I remember on the first trip that it was using around 2 gallons more than the Pamper at each fuel stop though…

The pamper is a staple for all to be compared too… πΒ Often copied, rarely dupicated! π
