Looks really great JJ!Β Want to do a mirror…I think the round ones look better than the “square” ones….
The body is better than I thought it could be!!Β Fantastic job!
Never had a metal sunroof car, what goes in to making that line up?…Are there a lot of adjustments?
Getting excited to talk about chassis, engine, n trans…..
Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore!
I personally ALWAYS steer clear of metal sunroof cars…. πΒ π π π π π π π πΒ Β Pat has been putting them together lately and I feel has the most recent experience with them and I think he will get you dialed in…. No worries… πΒ π π π π
Stock interior I assume? I think WW has that stuff in stock hopefully…Β We do need to get an engine ordered..Β Tom, you happen to have a good MAG case we could send to painters?Β Other wise you know your gonna have to go aluminum..
Proud and Stubborn ππ»
Yup, stock ivory interior….think it’s sharp with the Sea Blue….
Hmmm…have to check on a case, had a few good cores, not sure if I used ’em up….time to look in the shed….would like to stick to OG as much as I can…where it counts if I can…..What do you think of CB’s 1274 Super Cases?
It’s been a month of Sundays since I’ve built a decent VDub engine…..will need some guidance on what you guys think will work the best together and what you’ve had good luck with.Β I’m big on reliability and dependability….don’t wanna get too crazy, but want to have fun.Β Heat down here is a KILLER so want something that won’t have crazy temps.
Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore!
You guys have that humidity… π π π π π πΒ Β Yesterday I was daydreaming about a fuckin hot rod IDA motor for this rig?? π π π π
Proud and Stubborn ππ»
I like that day dream…..think I’ve had it myself for a while….a little CB n Berg action to make this rig run like it’s looking for the autobahn….
Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore!
Yup.. I was thinking the same!
berg linkage of course…ππππ

Tom.. do you want heat?Β Defrost?Β Β Or Cal look all the way… π π π π
It’s time for me to wrap my head back around this…Β Β Monday… Monday I am back on it… π π π π
Proud and Stubborn ππ»
Is there such a thing as heat in a beetle??π€·ββοΈ I think I have only had it in one of the many I have owned. It kept my ankles toasty in high school!π
Hey JJ,
Yes, believe it or not, heat n defrost would be nice….
Been a little busy with a guy named Ian….what a mess in SW FL….Doing recovery for the next few months….but truly lucky….no damage at my place…..
Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore!
Glad to hear about your home. That has to be nerve racking.
Are you thinking a big 2 liter stroker? Or a 1914cc…1914cc is a little easier to build with a stock crank and bored-out cylinders. What kind of cam? Street cruiser, or drag racer?
I assume you’ll probably want to do interstate speeds? So a 3.88 ring and pinion with stock 1-4 gears…Or drag racer with close ratios for the 1/4 mile?
The 2 liter engine is a little more involved for assembling the engine and installing. It will need a external oil cooler for sure, where as the 1914cc will be fine without. The 2 liter could run the big 48 Weber IDA carburetors, where as a 1914cc would be better suited with dual 40mm Dellortos.
Hi Franz,
Sorry I’m a little slow responding…been working round the clock with SW FL recovery efforts…..quite a mess down here…
I was thinking 1914, street cam..like 284/431…
I was thinking stock gears, HD sideplate, super diff, yeah, definitely want to do highway speeds, beach is about 30 miles away…
I was thinking later model offset doghouse oil cooler setup…we take the thermostat n flapper guts out down here….car never runs cold..lol!
Yes, would like the dual carbs, hopefully can fit under decklid without trimmingΒ body…I think they make all kinds of manifolds to make that work…

Sorry I’m so late to the party but so happy I got to take Sunny to the dance. Have towYota Taco, will hit the happy trails for a friend and a rescue. Y’all are doing a fabulous job! I appreciate your efforts and kindness. I might be stopping in sooner than later to see in person. π

Mike!!Β Glad you jumped in here… and your more than welcome to come down anytime….
I ended up helping with racks and now that I heard your covered up in relief efforts…Β I feel like I should give your project a break and let you focus on that for a few weeks….Β Good luck… π π π π πΒ Β But if you don’t care… let me know… I’ll get right back on it… π π π π

Mike did come down last week!!!!
So Tom….Β The body is pretty much ready for another round of abrasive cleaning..Β Β and then, I want to head right into body work…Β Which won’t take more than a week or so with Pat and I on it..Β Then right into paint… .I think I should slow the roll on the body, and get the pan into motion so they can possibly be ready for each other within a few days time..Β π π π π πΒ I would also prefer to set the body down over the NEW pan halves before I paint it…. π π π π π Really before I even blast it…Β After I blast it next, NO touchy!!!!!!!!Β π π π π π π
Pan looks pretty good.. Right rear is rough… thin as a whores word….. π π π π πΒ But trans needs sent out and rebuit… Beam and what not.. and that sweet clutch tube fix hole… π π π π π πΒ Β so, I am thinking fresh pans both sides!!!Β and a complete Pan rebuild…Β π π π
Proud and Stubborn ππ»
Good day!!! Β Trans is ready to wrap for shipping. One of your axles was crappy… so I say we get some new oneβs! Β HD since youβll probably be tempted to do burn outs!!πππππ. Your brakes were mostly all empty… and had this sweet set up on one side.. see any problemsπππππ
Pan is down to the Center section a little more prep and it can be abrasive cleaned too!! Β Ordering pans tomorrow!!
Probably wonβt use much of that front end… Β steering box.., thatβs it!ππ»
