Looking good! Happy that the mechanicals are serviceable. Those BDs are looking great. Y’all have fun at the SLC show.
Johnny finished up gates yesterday… The truck itself is about to roll into the booth…. ย LOTS of love will be needed on these awesome gates…. ๐
self explantory picture of whats happening with your project today.
Outstanding!! Lots of Bondo dust I’m sure. First time the little truck has been, “rust free and proud”.
I thought I was seeing things, jones…
OK MASTER BLASTER!!!ย I need this rig sitting in my dirty shop all bare metal and virgin blasted clean metal!ย I am ready to turn up the progress on this one,.ย Lets roll boys… Lets pound this rig out! ๐

Master blaster said this truck is “NO CREAM PUFF”…. ๐ ๐ ๐ย ย ๐ ๐ ๐ย ย ๐ ๐ ๐ย ย ๐ ๐ ๐ย ย ๐ ๐ ๐ย ย ๐ ๐ ๐
No doubt. I’ll be interested myself to see what the “abrasive cleaning” uncovered.
the bottom of the gates look more like swiss cheese than metal…..ย You can buy new gates.. Probably $3500 or so… But thats over a weeks work.. I might be able to do something with them in 2 weeks time…ย and they will be og to the bus. ๐
I figured those gates were pretty rough under all that bondo. Dad liked him some bondo. I seem to remember using a fiberglass infused bondo-like glob too. Think it was called “Tiger Hair”, but I digress. ย Anyhow, got on the phone with KlassicFab. Fella there told me four weeks for the set.
I’m gonna get some photo’s up here in a bit.. truck is back in the dirty for some slicing and dicing out of some rust and crappy metal….
How much $$ for the gates?
Paul…ย I would say your a lucky man.. Your baus has what i would call regular bus rust repair… Actually it could be considered light rust repair.. I mean.. the front floor looks savable to me..
center sections, outriggers, jackpoints, inner and outer rockers, probably a whole cargo floor.. which will ne so much fun with the bed on…. ๐ย ย rear corners could use replaced, battery tray, mud flaps, and some closing panels,,,, that would get us a good start! ๐
I know you’ve heard it a million times, butโฆ your shop cam is fucking awesome!! I’m sitting here doing the Charlie Brown happy dance! Huge grins seeing Dad’s SC alongside the convertibleโฆ and in the shop!! Outstanding!
Juan quoted me $2900 for the set, KF814, shipping included. Straight off their website. Those gates look like doo-doo and after surfing a bit, sounds like a fair deal. I’m looking for ideas to repurpose the OGs.
I’m a lucky man on account of this bus being at KCW.
Thanks for getting it going.

completely random.. but my first type 2 was a 59 single cab…
I’ll be up early cutting out metal on this….ย Would be nice to make a metal order before the end of the week…ย ๐ย ๐ย ๐ย ย No reason not to…..
I know youโve heard it a million times, butโฆ your shop cam is fucking awesome!
shop cam??? Jones…….hook me up. ย I thought those cameras were gone.
Paul hasn’t even been around long enough to know what your talking about unk…ย ย ๐
This single cab is getting to the point that I am most interested in. No guessing or cutting corners. John you are a machine! Go heavy on pictures please, I’ve got a single cab and pics are really missed with the original website taking a shit.
ok… I’ll take a few pics for ya….ย ย it’s about time to start cutting and get dirty and rust all over me… ๐
